JMT on Google EarthView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 5 of 5 messages posted.
New Navigation Tool “Spent some time charting out another section of the JMT today and instead I mapped the whole thing. If you have Google Earth, or you're inclined to install it, here's my kmz file: JMTa.kmz It's a pretty careful and detailed walkthrough and I think most of it's correct. Went from memory and had to check maps a couple of times. It's basically a 3D low level fly over via high-res satellite images. Anywho, have fun with it. Thought about trailtalk when I finished. It's simple to set up, but the instructions about how to install it are at my blog: Download and Installation ^^ last edited: 12/24/06 12:00:41 AM” 11:58:25 PM 12/23/06 “Cool - looking forward to checking it out. I have done a similar thing for various places I think I might camp along the trail, so I'll be interested to look at it. Gotta run right now, though...” 9:30:54 AM 12/24/06 “Looks pretty good. Most of your placemarks in Yosemite match up with the ones from when I was there.” 3:29:51 PM 12/24/06 “FYI, when in the National Park system you can click on the content "Parks and recreation area" and it shows many of the trails, including the JMT in Yosemite” 7:28:25 PM 12/24/06 “Pretty cool, Tekdude. Nice blog too. I have Google Earth but I'm not very good with it. All I can ever look at are the overhead views.” 8:22:44 PM 12/24/06
