Monongahela Christmas

“I got home last night from two nights in Monongahela National Forest and Otter Creek Wilderness in West Virginia.

Henry and Cousin Zac and I drove out Friday and spent the night at Bear Heaven Campground.
It rained just about the whole way out and let up enough for us to set up a tent.

Saturday eventually cleared to a beautiful blue sky as we hike down stream from the Condon Run trail head.

I had not been backpacking since last July when I got a piece of The Long Trail with EarthNsky.

We hiked four miles to where the Otter Creek Trail first crosses the creek and camped there.

This was not a tough hike and it was nice to see the rhododendron jungle again.

On the way home we stopped in Thomas at the Purple Fiddle and had coffee and soup and sandwiches.”
