“My aunt was an assistant for the athletic director at U of M and she was in charge of his big ceremony at the university about 10 years ago. He gave her a gift for the job she did and she said she had never met a more humble man.

“Not about Ford, but I remember standing downtown Columbus, Ohio in 1973 about 10 feet from Spiro Agnew as he gave an open air speech. I was there visiting a friend who was at the Columbia School of Broadcasting. SS agents were all over the rooftops and on the ground and I can't remember what he said. Funny what headlines help you remember.......

This woman (a real loon) in like Bohunk Texas calls the Sheriff on day, she was trying to get to Ford to talk about his ANTI Organized Crime program. She was paranoid as hell and thought her husband was a member of the mob.

Her comment as best I remember it was, "Sheriff, my Husband/Ex husband, is in the mob, and I need to talk to President Ford. If I can't talk to President Ford I am just going to kill the b@stard.(meaning as they found out later...her husband)."

LOL the Sheriff was such a putz, in court he admitted that he had waited till the next morning to call the Secret Service. His explaination, "I didn't think it was that important."

“He was the last major party presidential candidate I voted for until the elections in the late 90's.

I thought he would have made a great president...didn't agree with the Nixon pardon but I enjoyed his middle road common sense policy strategy. He did help foster the G7 (now G8)summits. He saw the world economy long before anyone else.”

U.S. Capitol Police officers said they were told to prepare for Ford’s body to come to the Capitol Rotunda on Saturday, and congressional officials who have been briefed on plans said a public viewing would begin after an arrival ceremony. The cathedral service was expected Tuesday.

So, all the sports fans in town must have jumped with joy because they thought Lions' owner William Clay Ford had died.

And all the auto workers in town must have had a heart attack because they thought the lines were going to shut down, which they might anyway.
