THanks, Fritz! Awful kind of you. Let's see how it goes. As of now, I'm not going to be doing the long route in. I don't think I'm up for that. We'll play it by ear...

I'm always around, but do not post as much as I used to. I've been on about a dozen hikes and numerous gatherings with TT folk and they have all been wonderful.

Ginny - I just spent an hour surfing around your site and reading various essays. Very nice of you both to share so much of your life and experience. I was particularly intrigued by the way thru hiking changes your attitudes in many ways. I think this is not unusual for people who have a lot of time to reflect on the meaning of life and what things are important, without being interupted by the "busy" life. IMHO, being engulfed in nature helps. My friend, Teddi Boston, thru hiked the PCT and said essentially the same thing (even my 50-mile hikes allow me time to reflect).

NA, you are the only person I know to ever hike in a tux and trail runners, bro.

I have to admit, that was a classic moment in my 25 years of backpacking.

I read frequently if not daily, but don't post much anymore. I've been around here since the Lime Green Jellow thread had less than 100 posts, and before Lizs became a "real" backpacker, and even before I became a real backpacker. does that make me an old-timer? don't know. But my life has sure changed since then. I got a lot of hiking information and encouragement from the folks here. Enough to give me courage to hike alone, which ultimately changed the direction of my life. Thanks, everyone!

Where's Lizs' first report - title?

That was too funny. Black Hills, 1/4 mile, two trips. It was on one of my responses that I called her a "trail ho". A tt term was born...

She's blossomed into quite the trooper. Did 17 miles on Cumby one day she did. "Cumby".. the nother joism...

I'm here too, not as much as some times, the local site is pretty active so I hang out there quite a bit. Work interfers with life too much, but not for ever, I became eligible for retirement in Oct, will give it a few more years then hike fulltime.

Live Strong. Have Faith.
Over the past several weeks I just started to check in again. Haven't posted really, but I'm reading through some of the posts to get familiar with the folks now active here. Still some toxic arguing and heat in the fuego pile of posts, I see.

Faded away for awhile because of life stuff (fatherhood, work, school and all that), but the passion for these mountains is returning. I can feel it and I'm noticing the peaks on the horizon getting my attention again.

Heading to Sequoia and Kings Canyon tomorrow with the camera in hand. Probably try for Hazelwood trail near Lodgepole with the little ones and some friends. Weather forecast says it's going to be a clear and cold. But a great day nonetheless.

Wow... I just looked at my "member since" date and realized I missed my six year anniversary two days ago.
