“Does anybody know the Satellite Ballroom in Charlottesville Virginia, or live near there?
(My son is driving down there in a few weeks to perform there - and he hasn't been anywhere near there since I took him to Virginia when he was 8 years old)”

“Went to Charlottesville with an English teacher T'giving '97 - she has family there.

Went to a "Blessing of the Hounds" ceremony at a small Episcopal church nestled in the local countryside. Then transferred to a nearby estate for the launch of the fox hunt. Hound and horseman numbering at least 100 each. Quite impressive.

I used my "radio voice" to convince a TV commenhottie that I, too, was in broadcasting. She swayed, I played, and Beth "playahated". The makeup sex in her car made it all better, tho - hehehee!”

“From what I gather, Satellite Ballroom is a major venue and I'm worried he won't be able to pull much of an audience down there - since he only knows a couple people and has no radio exposure (except a live concert for a college station). I'm wondering if there is a way I can help him out.”

Lyra: Natti does mostly keyboard and vocals. He often performs solo with stuff he wrote, but has friends who back him with strings, and one who does duos with him on guitar and vocals. Even at 18, he has his own style, but he definitely draws from Tom Waits, Dresden Dolls, Tori Amos and Regina Spector. I hear him play lots of Tori on the piano when he's home (When he was 16 he won a Tori Amos cover contest).”

“Cool dude. Maybe if you called the student center at UVA, someone would put up a flyer on a bulletin board or something? That's a pretty small town, I'd imagine the college students would be glad to have something to do...”

“I spent some time near and around C'Ville and have a good friend living there. I don't know about a Satellite Ballroom, but C'Ville is a college town (UVa), and if it's a college hangout my guess is he will have a good crowd.”

“Ped, I don't know how he is traveling but one might consider arranging a visit to Towson University's radio station.
They do studio sessions with artists who are on the road.

They put out a compilation disc each winter.
Last year's had an acoustic song from Mike Doughty and others I can't recall.

They are WTMD 89.7 and are on the internet(duh!).

“the time i was there for a show we sat around tables, no dance floor. i think there may have been room for ~200 people, maybe a few more. not overly big. it's right next to the campus and they get a good number of shows there so i imagne he'll have at least a fair crowd.”

“I see on the website it's on "The Corner," which is pretty much Ground Zero along with the Rotunda. If he doesn't get a good crowd, it will be because they evacuated the city.”

College radio is alive and well in my town and while it could be better.............it ain't bad.

These guys have lots of cool stuff like an "emerging artists" show and they sponsor live music events.

The Peanuts
The original Shobijin were played by the Japanese singing duo known as "The Peanuts". The pair, Emi and Yumi Ito, would enjoy a twenty year singing career from 1957 to 1977. The two were huge stars in both their native Japan and Germany. "The Peanuts" did enjoy brief success in the United States after the release of Mothra. The group recorded an English only album with covers of such songs as "California Dreamin" and "Proud Mary." The duo also appeared on "The Ed Sulivan Show." Although international singing stars they will always be remembered as the Twin Mothra Fairies from Mothra, Godzilla vs The Thing, & Ghidorah: the Three-Headed Monster.
