Ever had your hammock tightned while sti ll in it?

“I was in my hammock, sleep mask on and ear plugs in, snuggled in and sound asleep. I didn't know it at the time, but Super Troll, while I was still in my hammock, thought it was too slack and needed to be tightned while on a recent camping trip in Bucks Pocket State Park. With me still in it, untied it and pulled it tight. I would have thought this would be impossible, but a friend watched him do it! Now, I'm no little girl, 130lbs. Our friend hid behind a tree when he found out what Super Troll had in mind. I asked him why he hid? He said, "I knew if Super Troll dropped you, you would be like a wild cat fighting it's way out of a paper bag, and I didn't want to be around when you got out!"”

“Chili, I wasn't in the woods, at a State Park campground, in the open with a street light not too far away. I never go anywhere without sleep mask and ear plugs! I highly recommend it!”

“A few years ago in college we had a guy fall asleep in a hammock (he actually had one strung up in his dorm room) and we took three masterlocks, pulled the sides together and locked him in. Then we sort of flipped him so that he was facing down. It was hilarious, but according to him, not very comfortable.”

“I also recommend earplugs and eyeshades when camping in state or National Parks...actually, I listen to the radio all night wearing one, noise reduction earplug on the ear not buried in my pillow...I have no trouble switching the earplug when I turn over...neither earplugs or eyeshades are in my backpack...

As for tightening a Hennessy while someone was in it? I can barely pull that line tight enough myself...I'm amazed to read someone can do it with the added weight of a sleeping being...brave soul...

About three months ago our unit was doing some "scout service" and finishing up the Small Boat Sailing Merit badge at a "redneck" Yacht club. The other leader and I who share a tarp found what we figured was the ONLY flat ground at the lake edge (cool breeze off the lake the whole nine yards).

We set the tarp up....and were so proud of our area....then it got dark, and since we normally don't check for it (okay we check UP for limbs)...we didn't notice there was this 10,000,000,000 candlepower "Security Light" not 15 feet away.

That sucker kicked on....well you could actually find stuff in your pack without a flashlight. We finally got two black trash bags, jackets and anything to block the glow.”

“XL...I never travel anywhere without my eye mask and earplugs. Sometime I want to go to sleep and others are still up around the campfire talking, just get out the ear plugs. Or at a hotel and people out in the hall talking or doors slamming, earplugs again. Ever have someone watching TV or listening to music and you want to sleep? The answer...EAR PLUGS! Never leave home without 'em!”
