CNN StinksView Messagesthey will report ANYTHING “cnn.com Front Page: Lawyers: U.S. hands over Hussein U.S. officials have informed former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's lawyers in Jordan that he is no longer in U.S. military custody, the lawyers told CNN today. The transfer of Hussein from U.S. to Iraqi custody represents perhaps the final step before his execution. He faces death by hanging for the killings in the Iraqi town of Dujail nearly 25 years ago. Then at the top of the page "Developing Story" - Reuters reports Saddam Hussein still is in U.S. custody, a U.S. official in Baghdad said, denying reports that the U.S. military has handed the former president over to Iraqi authorites to be hanged. You can so totally not trust anything they report it's crazy. What happened to checking your facts? The other news networks are not much better, if any better at all. last edited: 12/29/06 12:39:55 PM” 12:38:38 PM 12/29/06 “You need to go back and check out Reuters again for the update. Doh!” 12:41:55 PM 12/29/06 “Saddam may hang within hours: source 1:26pm ET Saddam Hussein could be hanged within hours, a senior Iraqi source told Reuters after Saddam's lawyer said U.S. forces had handed over Saddam to Iraqi authorities.” 12:42:37 PM 12/29/06 “Yeah, now it reads... Reports conflict on who has Hussein Reuters reports that former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein remains in U.S. custody. The news agency quotes U.S. State Department spokesman Tom Casey as saying, "My understanding is that there's been no change in his status." The report contradicts Iraqi state television that announced Hussein had been handed over to the Iraqis for execution. Which would explain why they FIRST reported that he was turned over. Welcome to CNN... if you don't like the news wait 10 minutes and see if you like it then.” 12:43:40 PM 12/29/06 “Have some wine Jim...it will make you feel better.” 12:50:12 PM 12/29/06 “hehe, good idea.” 12:52:02 PM 12/29/06 “You yanks... tsk tsk tsk. The A-T-L is where I dwell. My sister dated one of Ted Turners classmates at Georgia Military Academy (now Woodward Academy - the nations largest boarding high school). Teddy boy was bullied, used, and abused in those days. His success is his revenge. He's a #@&damned freak. He's the kind of guy y'all like to point at and say "See! If that isn't a doggone ruralsexual I'll eat my brautwerst, don'cha know?" CNN is a disgrace - always has been. Their existence is not due to support here in the South. We tuned out their dribble years ago. CNN Center my ass.” 12:54:40 PM 12/29/06 “Dang, and I always thought it was in Atlanta.” 1:23:15 PM 12/29/06 “LOL...his oldest was an underclassman to me at the Citadel. Ted has the problem most famous people get...he has started believing his own press releasese.” 1:25:48 PM 12/29/06 “i saw a documentary last on hussein's 2 sons......wow” 1:34:28 PM 12/29/06 “Anyone who gets most of their information from any of the cable-based news networks is in trouble.” 1:39:38 PM 12/29/06 “what dumbasses. they posted a report on their website that said saddams lawyers said the US turned him over. they reported what was said, brainiac. then another news agency (reuters) reports the US still has him. did you read the headline? Reports conflict on who has Hussein its a website. hello. it gets constantly updated as news develops and new reports come in. maybe you should stick to FOX where they tell you how the iraqis are welcoming us with open arms and showering our troops with rose petals” 1:41:51 PM 12/29/06 “I thought I saw Cindy Sheehan pick Saddam up in her VW bus and head back to Tejas.” 1:44:28 PM 12/29/06 “LOL....Anyone should remember to properly clear EVERYTHING they hear now a days.” 1:57:07 PM 12/29/06 “Feel the burn, hikeridiot.” 1:27:30 PM 12/30/06 “CNN and FOX are tied for last place along with the other advertisement news networks.” 2:03:47 PM 12/30/06 “nice post hikerboy. you managed to be insulting, arrogant, and condescending at the same time you managed to irrelevantly drag the iraq war into the discussion. troll on brother!” 5:40:37 PM 12/30/06 “Criticize a network all you like, but this instance is just a case of one story updating before the other - and one story from CNN and another via an agency. You look hard enough you'll find this on all news websites which try to deliver news in real time. It happens Take some initiative yourself and read them to see which one supersedes the other. I know most people like to be spoonfed their information, but clicking and reading the second link isn't rocket science.” 6:50:37 PM 12/30/06 “... the first story was WRONG. there should be no story until the facts are verified. the standard of journalism applied here is very, very low... which is not a shock to me. you have examples like the Newsweek/Koran/toilet thing and the CBS/Dan Rather/George W Bush/Killian Documents thing to hold up as standards.” 7:08:17 PM 12/30/06 “You have no idea what standards are being applied. You could have one US official saying one thing while an Iraqi government official is saying another. Sources also get stories wrong. Administration officials also deal in misinformation, as do overseas governments. The sources have an agenda - much more so than the news organization. It's a different world in 24-hour journalism, people want news as it's happening. Expect mistakes to be made and stories to be updated and corrected. Your comparison with Rathergate is also ill-conceived. Rathergate decisions were made over the course of days. This news report came from trying to keep up with events as they were happening.” 7:50:39 PM 12/30/06 “Isn't it so cute the way the far lefties just adore CNN? LOL” 8:23:27 PM 12/30/06 “And it wouldn't be TT without stovey making an idiot of himself in public. lololol” 8:42:56 PM 12/30/06 “And it wouldn't be TT without Y2/HikerBoy making an idiot of himself in public. lololol”” 8:44:55 PM 12/30/06 “Turd Throwing, all poor Y2 knows how to do. LOLOLOLOL” 8:47:47 PM 12/30/06 “CNN just reported this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BAGHDAG BOB REPORTING LIVE FROM THE AIRPORT: "The news that our beloved leader Saddam has been hanged are greatly exaggerated!!! Saddam is alive, in control, in the capital, and still leading the valiant fight against the Americans. I swear it."” 8:49:20 PM 12/30/06 “TT is like a village - and every village needs someone like you ss. I made a point relating directly to the thread title, then you chose to try to troll - yet again. But then trying to be reasonable with the Village Idiot is dumb of me. So I'll leave you to it.” 8:57:11 PM 12/30/06 “Isn't it about time for you to tell me to go suck treebeard's dick, Y2? You know, your usual comeback? Far Lefties like Y2 are so intolerant.” 9:02:52 PM 12/30/06 “By the way, CNN does stink.” 9:03:25 PM 12/30/06 “It's a different world in 24-hour journalism, people want news as it's happening. Expect mistakes to be made and stories to be updated and corrected. so what is the different between "journalism" and "24-hour journalism"? if one has a higher standard than the other than clearly cnn works to the lower of the two. Journalism is a discipline of collecting, analyzing, verifying, and presenting news regarding current events, trends, issues and people. ” 1:07:21 PM 12/31/06 “Jimmy san, Jimmy san, Jimmy san.... You know verifying for CNN isn't something worth doing unless the news item is not in favor of Dems. No need to verify any slurs against those evil Repubs. LOL” 1:32:44 PM 12/31/06 “CNN and FoxNews and all the rest are really just sifters. They don't have the time to make really good decisions. So, they sift through everything and throw it on. I think blogs are good for casting a wide net and advocating for overlooked stories. The cable news networks are good for as-it-happens rough coverage. Newspapers, magazines and books are still the best sources of information. It's unfair to criticize CNN and FoxNews for a lack of accuracy, because that's not what they are about anyway.” 1:59:11 PM 12/31/06 “are you saying that the people that produce the stories for CNN and FoxNews don't think of themselves as journalists?” 2:07:12 PM 12/31/06 “Media I like... C-SPAN Washington Journal MSNBC.com streaming video realclearpolitics.com The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer Wall Street Journal This Morning (radio) NPR/BBC overnight Paul Sullivan Show (WBZ Radio-Boston) Bob Brinker - Moneytalk Frontline Meet the Press Drudgereport Toledo Blade (currently on strike) Ann Arbor News Monroe Evening News Nytimes.com Washington Week in Review Clark Howard/Illyce Glink (WSB - radio) NBC Nightly News Dailykos Dave Ramsey (radio) CBC The Atlantic Monthly Chicago Tribune” 2:09:45 PM 12/31/06 “Jimmy! Yes. I do. But someone with a 6 hour deadline is going to get more things wrong than someone with a 24 hour deadline or a two week deadline or a two year deadline. I think that the most accurate coverage is only possible with the later deadlines. That said, on 911, nobody was getting info. from the newspapers, so there is a place for CNN/FoxNews. Also, it is pretty clear that FoxNews is biased towards the right and CNN skews a bit left. If you know that, then you can spin all of their news in the appropriate way inside your own head.” 2:13:21 PM 12/31/06 “BTW, I find the evolution of a news item to be fascinating. Some random dude picks up a little pearl and posts it on a web blog. Lots of people link to it. A 24 hour news channel throws it up on the screen. A newspaper investigates it fully and publishes. And then, the fun begins. Politicians and writers begin to spin and change the event. I just find the attempt to control the perception of history these days to be fascinating.” 2:36:07 PM 12/31/06 “Lawyers: U.S. hands over Hussein Reuters reports Saddam Hussein still is in U.S. custody No need to verify any slurs against those evil Repubs. StoveStomper 1:32:44 PM 12/31/06 just curious, which news item was the slur?” 3:12:44 PM 12/31/06 Screen Capture “ ![]() Obama, Osama, what the heck. CNN has had a hand in building up both of them. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!! last edited: 1/01/07 8:33:10 PM” 8:29:38 PM 1/01/07 “yes, osama needed a lot of buildup. he didnt get hardly any from 9/11 and otherwise the Bushies would have had us all forget about him.” 9:45:42 PM 1/01/07 “That is great, Stove! I'd bet that Obama's name alone is enough to keep him from getting elected president.” 9:48:31 PM 1/01/07 “i especially liked SteveStampers insightful analysis. it was spot on, especially the part that wasnt lifted from rightwing blogs” 9:53:43 PM 1/01/07 “Obama, Osama, most lefties don't know the different, or care to, anyway. LOL” 9:59:06 PM 1/01/07 “Obama...great guy but he is the next Vince Foster for Hillary. He will charge ahead long enough to scare off any good potential candidates. Then at the last moment he will pull a Powell and back off....(or end up in Ft. Marcy Park.)” 7:47:47 AM 1/02/07 “ ”8:59:53 AM 1/18/07 LOL “What is the over/under on the Dems bringing back the Fairness Doctrine to prohibit Fox from programming honest reporting?” 9:07:25 AM 1/18/07 “That is great! Where did you get that ad?” 9:22:32 AM 1/18/07 “Harman, it's posted as a joke. I don't think it's a real ad. Might be, but I don't know. last edited: 1/18/07 9:28:49 AM” 9:28:11 AM 1/18/07 “ ”9:32:56 AM 1/18/07 “Is that nasty cowardly troll posting again? LOL message from hikerboy being ignored last edited: 1/18/07 9:40:55 AM” 9:40:24 AM 1/18/07 “yes, i believe you are posting again, lardass message from stovestumper being ridiculed (again) last edited: 1/18/07 9:45:26 AM” 9:41:48 AM 1/18/07
