Proabably this was already posted, but I couldn't find it. It's a great story of rescue and survival from earlier this month. Maybe other people who've been ultra busy the last few weeks have missed it too:

Wow. Thanks for sharing, Ped. Had not heard this story before. Amazing, the uncanny nature of dogs...

Yeah, the Chicago AR community sent that out so members could offer support.

Pretty incredible story.

I am thinking the cold slowed the bleeding...but it is an amazing story!

That makes the season real.

Amazing story. I saw a report of this on tv a few days ago. She was interviewed and was so matter of fact about it. A true athlete.

I am thinking that not only has she an amazing strength of spirit and will, but that God is not finished with her here on earth yet.

Great story to share with us pedxing, and i Like your name! I was a pedestrian for some 39 years until I finally got my driver's license at 40.

Don't know how I missed this one, thanks PED!

Not to take anything at all away from the pup, I really liked this comment by Danelle:

"Reflecting on the living hell she endured, she offers a simple explanation. “I wasn’t ready to die.”

Attitude is everything!

Great story. Makes me wonder "what if?"
I often wonder what my dogs would do if I got into such a situation...

Claudell, the Black Attack, a 120 pound lab that I had for many years, once attempted to rescue me while I was floating on my back a couple hundred feet offshore. I was just floating along, minding my own business, when suddenly - WHAM! he had me by the hair a'tuggin. I reared my ugly head and said "wtf?!" and he released and explained that he thought he was just doing his duty.
"Jeez, don't have a sea cow!" quoth he.

There was a news story several years ago about the Dogs of the Year or something like that. Amazing feats of loyalty and courage. The several dog heroes mentioned had done some incredible things'o rescue...

I've been thinking more about this. There's a lesson here to be friendly with your neighbors.

What a fun week!!! Just got a call there are three Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in our local shelter.....so gonna go get them take them to the Farm (WHOO HOO get to sleep in the relaxing Farm for the rest of the week) and start the process of finding foster homes....they are cuties and just really scared now.

AmyG I am personally holding you responsible for this (LOL)...if you hadn't directed me to Chesapeake Bay Retriever Rescue years ago I would have missed some of the greatest experiences in my life.

Guys they are cuties....all are HUGE dogs. Two three year olds (one male and one female) and then a 2 year old male.

The older male is named Beethoven and he was the last to start trusting me. Though the new collar and the treats helped.

The Younger male my daughter named Einstein...and he is a short bus dog if you get my drift. He is huge and LOL last night while watching a movie he started barking at the TV dang near attacked it.

The Female is the real sweetie....I spent most of the night with her cuddling to me just wanting to be held. Granted a 70+ lb dog is not a lap dog but if I had room in my house for her...she would not leave this area.

As soon as I can download the preliminary shots I will put them up.

Oh, no kidding, SC. My next door neighbor (who is totally awesome) heads up the NC mastiff rescue association. She was headed out to somewhere west of Asheville today, to evaluate both a dog in need of a foster home and some people who want to volunteer. If it weren't for the required background checks, it could be a one day trip, but background checks are now required around here.

Well we kept Amadeus the HUGE male Chessie who had an issue at the adoptive home. He has turned out to be a special neat guy. THe problem we found out was that A these twits had him on a restrictive diet and he was losing weight (so this juvenile was hungry) then the twit woman put a sandwich in the hand of a 16 month old RIGHT INFRONT OF A HUNGRY DOG...Ami ran the kid over...BUMMER

Well Ami is a sweetheart. He is back to good weight and having fun....
