Btw, I've heard that a proper hanging is one of the quickest and most humane methods of execution. Snaps the neck and brings near-instant death.

Petacci is apparently respectfully considered in Italy; without reference to politics, but only as a woman who did not abandon the man she loved in times of trouble.

Saddam Hussein(sp?) was a soldier - he wore the uniform of the Commander in Chief of the Iraqi military. This is not a legal or religious issue, this is war.

He had a history of commiting war - against Iran, against the Kurds, against the Allies of the First Gulf War, and most recently against many of the world's nations united - not so much in action, but in words too wreckless to ignore in the Post-9/11 environment.

His self imposition of the military rank he held came with certain responsibilities and expectations. He spit and spewed and rattled his sabre to the degree that he probably didn't know what he was getting himself into. He went too far, plain and simple.

Our Commander in Chief was right in his decision to take this warrior to task. It's almost cliche, but if the leaders of late 1930's Western Europe had acted much sooner to stop a couple of other dictators, the world would have been much the better for it, imo.

My dad's crew plucked a dead Jap suicide pilot from the Pacific and gave him a burial at sea with full military honors. They did this because he wore a uniform. It's odd how such events can occur - one minute the guy's trying to kill you, the next your standing at attention and sending him overboard with a salute of respect.

I doubt if any such event ever occured on board any Imperial Japanese Naval vessels, but that's them - that's not us. Your not likely to see any such behavior from the Islamo-Fascist cowards, either. The spineless bastards won't even man-up and suit-out so's to distinguish themselves from non-combatants.

At least Saddam did. Let's give him some credit for that.

You need to brush up on your definitions. Anglicans, Episcopalians, and Methodists are all protestants.

Furthermore, I don't really care what protestants, Catholics, Jews, or Muslims believe about the death penalty.

“BM, the key phrase for Catholics is "if it can be replaced by incarceration." It is a very real possibility that we will either leave Iraq or be forced out at some point in the next few years.
