I always laugh at a new Chris Carmicheal/CTS endeavor. The ultimate entrepreneur! Check out the newsletter for his "5 Essentials for a Winning Life". I own most of his training/cycling books, may buy this one too.

way to go maple! Here is a good site for calculating calories burned for different activities based on your weight...

I am down 5 pounds since I started 2 weeks ago. 1/4 of the way there!

I'm down a few pounds too, but I think it has more to do with packing all of the contents of a house into boxes and then moving those boxes to staging areas in the house.

Barbie is down 11 so far for the year. She has a Biggest Looser club going with a bunch of friends (like the TV show).

They all put 50 bucks in the kitty and the biggest % loss by June 15 wins.

So far, everyone in the group has lost at least 5 pounds.

Yay everybody! I am going in for my 30 day weigh-in tonight. My scale says i lost about 8 pounds, so we'll see. I know I have gained muscle, so the numbers dont show all my hard work.

I am up to 6 mile runs now and have to do sprint intervals just to get my heart rate up...

Thanks to all the stresses of moving I've lost 14 pounds according to several different scales. What I see in the mirror doesn't look any different though. Since most of our stuff is still in boxes, I foresee lots of lugging 'em up and down stairs in my future.

I don't normally weigh myself too often, but I did yesterday and today for some reason. This morning I had lost 6.5 pounds from yesterday! I bet I gain 7 tomorrow morning.

My wife's out of town and I'm unemployed so I've been working out twice a day. I went for a run last night before bed. I've been on fire lately. People were looking at me from their cars like "this mofo's crazy for being out running in the middle of the night in shorts and a sleeveless shirt." I still sweat quite a bit.

I'm trying to get back in the shape I was in before going back to school. Working full-time and getting a 4 year degree in a little over 2 was murder on my fitness.

After I finally get a job I'd like to not blow my knees out when I get to go hiking.

So does any else do weight watchers? I am doing the program on line and actually tracking my food and exercising. I am not doing any weight training. Simple cardio regime. I am gaining weight. I am so confused and getting desperate. I am at the point where I think I need to go to the doctor. Has anyone else experienced disappointment on WW?

sandyann, I am on WW. Other than this past week I have lost weight every week. How many points are you allowed a day? Are you eating the full amount of points or slacking? I go to the meetings since I heard you do better that way.
Ewker

Well, I am allowed 21 a day. I average between 19 and 23. I am also earning approx 3 points for exercise but do not know what that means.

I would undertand if I wasn't really watching what I eat and exercising. I do not eat out - I do not eat desserts or sweets. Maybe I should go to the meetings.

I haven't use my flex or excerise points. At first I had a hard time even getting my points. I started out with 32 points and now I am down to 31. I am within a few lbs of dropping to 30 points. I finally (well hopefully) figured it out. I was eating to many 0 point items.

if you want email me and we can talk about it that way instead of tying up the board

I've been at a plateau for the most part for a few weeks. The weight loss is moving agonizingly slow. I keep telling myself that at least it's going down. It's frustrating because it seems that just a few years ago I could lose weight with almost no effort. Now my body is stubbornly holding on to every ounce! It definitely is harder as you get older.

Sandyann, I am very pleased with WW, but I do recommend the meetings. You can be so down in the dumps about your effort, but a visit to a meeting can really give you the motivation you need to keep going. I like their monthly pass option.
Ruby

3/01/07

Frustrating isn't Ruby? I've been stuck in the same place between 150-146 for about a year. My goal is 140. Seems like everytime I get close to dropping below 146 I get messed up somehow and lose the ability to excercise. I'm doing sit ups, push ups and some pilates ball excercises now but really having a hard time with it. It's impossible for me to do any cardio. It's tempting to go to GNC and get some crazy diet pills or meal replacements or something. I know that won't work long term though. It's hard being so close and not making it. Can't wait to be able to get back on the eliptical machine!!

One of my clients is totally crazy for plastic surgery. She got lipo done to the point she looks like she's got two toothpicks for legs. She's so hooked she told me she didn't get knocked or sedated or anything out for her last round so she could afford it. Can you imagine?! Ick.

And the doctor allowed that? Wow!

Here's a good low point breakfast or even a snack I concoct for myself every once in a while. It's filling and refreshing.

6 oz. vanilla WW fatfree yogurt
1 medium banana
2/3 cups frozen unsweetened strawberries
1/3 cup skim milk
2 tablespoons ground flax seed meal

Mix all in a blender. 4 1/2 points

Depending on what I have in my freezer, sometimes I add frozen blueberries.

Mmm Mmm, I just had the best dinner. My tank was feeling a little low so I decided to fill it up.

I heated up some garlic, spinach, red and yellow peppers in olive oil in a pan. Boiled some whole wheat spaghetti and browned some super low fat beef. Combined the veggies and beef and some spaghetti sauce and let it all simmer for a little while. It was DA BOMB.

It feels so naughty to eat spaghetti when I'm dieting. I've been hitting the workouts extra hard this week though, and now I'm going to go sleep it off.

ductape, spag with sauce and meat really isn't that fattening. A serving (using WW's numbers) is approx 1-1/4 cup of spag and 1/2 cup of sauce. Total points approx 7-8. Have that with a salad and some lo-cal or fat free dressing and you have a nice meal.

The veggies and sauce basically have no fat, the oil has some(but you need it everyday), spag and the meat have some.

Now dehydrate the rest for your next bping trip.

Sandyann, here are a couple of recipes from WW you might like to try.

Taco Soup 1 cup=2 points

1/2 lb lean ground beef
2 cups water
1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix
2 cans stewed tomatoes ( I use 1 large can of diced fired roasted tomatoes by Muir Glen)
1 chopped onion
1 can red kidney beans. 1 can pinto beans (include liquid from each can)
1 pkg dry taco seasoning mix

brown hamburger with onion, drain and add all the ingredients into a pot and simmer for at least 30 minutes. when put in a bowl add fat free cheese with a dab of fat free sour cream if you like. Sour cream and cheese are optional

Spanish Rice each serving= 6 points

1 lb lean ground beef
1 ea 46 ounce can tomato juice
2-1/4 cups instant brown rice
1/2 tbsp chili powder
1 onion chopped
1 tbsp paprika
1/2tbsp cumin

In a saucepan put 2-1/4 cups of tomato juice and bring to a boil. It will boil quickly. After it has reached a boil add 2-1/4 cups of brown rice and stir. Put a lid on it and remove it from the heat.
Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet. Add the onion paprika, cumin and chili powder. Brown thoroughly, stirring often then drain the grease. Add remaining tomato juice to the beef mixture, stir and bring to a boil. Add the rice mixture to the beef mixture. Stir and bring to a second boil. Remove from heat and serve.

Sandyann, just hang in there, it will be ok. You lost some weight and that is what it is all about.
The expected weight loss per week at WW is 1-2 lbs a week.

I do think the meetings would be better than trying to do it online.

You will be ok just keep up with those points.

Ewker

Sandyann, I don't know if this would apply to you or not, but I'll say it anyway. I find that I can lose weight fairly steadily with only dieting. But only dieting usually causes me to lose about half as much muscle as fat, so that's really no good. My weight loss gets more choppy when throwing exercise into the mix.

When exercising a lot and dieting, I might stay the same weight for 2 weeks or sometimes more. But then, one day I'll step on the scale and be down 5 pounds and it will stay off. There are definitely some water issues involved there.

I think the bottom line is that you're working to take better care of yourself and you're going to be a healthier person for it no matter what. Sometimes it helps to stay off that scale for a while, keep up the healthy lifestyle, and not worry about it. Stress helps keep the weight on.

ductape, using WW's is not really dieting. It is about learning how to eat and what an actual serving size is. That is the biggest key to losing weight. I have tried diets before and they didn't work. So far this has worked for me. I am never hungry using the WW plan. I couldn't say that about my other diets
