I don't know if I'm going to make it there before closing time on Friday. I'll pay when I get there.” 12:57:31 AM 6/06/07 “Stomper..May need you or someone to get permits for Chili and I. Anyone heard from CMB and Spirit?” 9:41:47 PM 6/06/07 Pink “send me your e-mail. I had to put a new hard drive in my computer and can't find your work one.” 10:53:38 PM 6/06/07 Stomper “How easy is this place to find a night? I might need to leave later than first planned.” 10:56:11 PM 6/06/07 “If you take the Grand Rivers exit off I-24, you will head straight through the north entrance to LBL. There will be a sign for the road to Pisgah Point Lake access and boat ramp after you pass by Moss Creek and Hillman Ferry. Turn right off of the main road onto the Pisgah Point road. The camping area is in a fairly large and partially wooded area. I'll try to have signs or lights marking our spot. We'll be watching for ya!” 11:16:17 PM 6/06/07 Stomer “What are you doing up so late? Don't you have to work tomorrow? Coyote820 isn't going to make it.” 11:20:57 PM 6/06/07 “Stomper..can you or someone get a permit for Chili and I? Thanks!!” 7:41:01 AM 6/07/07 “I think we should be there by 9 Central.” 8:01:01 AM 6/07/07 “Hey guys, I am sorry but I can not come on the trip anymore, it just turned out that I have to work on Sat. That sucks. I wish you a good time anyways.” 12:28:54 PM 6/07/07 “Bummer! I was looking forward to meeting you and practicing my German with you. NG - I'll get permits for you and Chili. Anyone else? I got my big project done today. I'm going to work for about two hours tomorrow so I'll be at the campsite in the early afternoon.” 6:35:36 PM 6/07/07 “I'm planning on trying to get out from here around 2-3. It's about a 5 hour drive. I'll see ya later tonight!!! Has anyone heard from Crazy Mike? Is Frige really coming? last edited: 6/08/07 5:21:02 AM” 5:20:00 AM 6/08/07 “Have fun all, I'll catch ya on the next one!” 6:34:59 AM 6/08/07 “Woo Hoo, today is the day.” 7:43:22 AM 6/08/07 “I'm getting packed and ready to go!!!” 10:39:42 AM 6/08/07 “We had a storm come through here today. See new thread on this trip page. More later.” 3:31:43 PM 6/10/07 “Stomper, Thanks for one of the best trips I've ever been on!” 7:38:31 PM 6/10/07 “I'd glad that yall had fun. The trip lived up to its name. It was a blast! The weather was perfect, no bugs to speak of, the water felt oh, so good. We hiked @4 miles from the Friday night car camp site to get to the swimming spot at Moss Creek. We had lunch, swam, planned new trips, swam again. We had a three hour lunch! How often do you get to do that? We left Moss Creek and hiked @ 3 miles to the welcome station enjoying views of the lake from the hillside bluffs along the way. We picked up new gear and water at the welcome station, drank some diet coke and powerade and proceeded on to our campsite. Fifthmaster, my hubby, arrived by boat right after we got to the campsite. Perfect timing! He brought ice and other goodies. Chili and Nurse Goodbody set up their site lightening fast, gathered firewood, (there was so much just laying right there - easy breezy) and then went for a swim. I soon followed. So here we are, cooling off in the lake, with ice in our glasses, after a good nine mile hike. It doesn't get any better than that. last edited: 6/10/07 8:07:51 PM” 8:00:21 PM 6/10/07 Pictures “Here's my pictures! http://community.webshots.com/album/559398535aLumFH I didn't take that many, was too busy having fun!” 8:27:35 PM 6/10/07 “It was one of the best trips I have been on. Weather was perfect, company was outstanding, and the trail was great.” 7:28:43 AM 6/11/07 “We arrive at the campsite around 10 PM Friday. Stomper looked like someone at an airport, directing us in to the gate. By the time we arrived, everyone else was already there with a nice fire going. NGB and I pitched the tent right by the lake and soon joined in the festivities. Sat morning we set out along the North South Trail. The weather was perfect without a cloud in the sky. At the 4.5 mile mark, we found a nice beach and had a three hour swim/lunch/swim break. What a great way to break up a 9 mile hike! We then hammered out the remaining distance and arrived at the campsite (a great location!) at about 5:30. NGB and I set an efficiency record in getting the tent pitched and the firewood collected in about 20 minutes and then it was off to the lake (about 20 feet away) for another swim before dinner. After we ate, we went back to the bank to watch a spectacular sunset. The remainder of the night was spent around a very nice fire swapping stories. The next morning was very relaxed with time for yet another swim before the 1.5 mile hike out to the cars. We then went to the Iron Kettle and pigged out on some righteous food. Damn, that blackberry pie was to die for. NGB and I got back to Knoxville around 9PM in time to clean gear and plan for the next trip. In all my TT travels, this was one of the best trips ever.” 7:52:49 AM 6/11/07 Stomper “Don't forget to plan and post the next trip! I am sooo there!” 8:49:30 AM 6/11/07 “I was just going to ask if it was to early to plan the Late Summer Blast trip. Guess not!” 8:54:42 AM 6/11/07 “Count me in.” 5:51:19 PM 6/11/07 << back to Early Summer Blast page
