ONE -- Sat, Jan. 6, tentless in the three-sided open shelter, Isinours Rec. Unit of the Richard J. Dorer Forest. Temps in the 20s. No snow... Looks like the light snow is moving in right now (Sunday, Jan. 7, 10:30 a.m.)

Hmmmm, if calendars are correct, Dec. 31 -- New Year's Eve -- has not yet occurred for 2007. So, would that mean that New Year's Eve trips/overnights took place in 2006???

I don't care if a person counts them for both years. BUT, there haven't been any posted yet on this thread, other than what I take to be goals OR... perhaps bag nights from some other dimension of space and time!

“I have no relatives in your neck of the woods to my knowledge. I considered the the calendar issue prior to my posting. But 12:00:01 am marked the beginning of 2007. Being still dark I assume that would be night. And being officially Jan 1, 2007 would thereby be the first night of the new year. Now I will not go to great lengths to deprive you your bragging rights as it is true that your post was indeed the first of 2007 on this thread. As I said, bragging rights are relative.

On the truly obscure side... and really pushing the limit the credulity is the concept practiced by various faith traditions that the new day actually starts at sunset of the previous day, meaning Jan 1, 2007 actually began at sunset of Dec 31 2006 by secular reckoning. But I think that pushes the envelope too far and is mentioned only to be an obnoxious twit. :?P~~~~”

“WOW...two great nights in Unicoi State Park. Started out sleeping in the Squirrels nest Friday night (got down to 21F and me in a 32F bag) then took the troop on a shake down hike on the Smith Creek Trail.
If you are looking for a good "break in" hike this is great to show the challenge of "UP". I do reccomend going from Unicoi State Park to Anna Ruby since you finish at the falls. We made a two day trip (one night on the mountain) and had a blast.

Got a lot of smiling kids on Sunday but they also learned a lot. So it was a major UP for them.”
