Ok, heres you TR!!
Hey all!
Back in the Nothwest burbs and had a good time. Always good to meet new folks and spend some time with hikers you know.
So here the TR:
We hiked, we camped. Some people got stupid and others wondered what they had got themselves into!! I tried to make a fire with my Swedish Fire Steel in front of everyone and got skunked. Then when no one was looking it worked just fine (I used paper the 2nd time though) It snowed on us, and it was determined that Lunar Solos (That’s a tent) are a bad choice if you expect heavy wet snow!! I ended up knocking snow off the roof every hour or so!! The temps were very mild and I didn’t hear any complaints about being cold!!
Well that it, or that’s all I’m gonna write!! (I made a promise not to elaborate on the events around the fire) Lol
See ya later.
Randall
Oh yeah that pic of me sucks!! ( I don’t look like that!!,)

Nice TR Randall. Short and sweet, no STORIES about wacky things that didn't happen around the fire. :-)

It was great snow campin. thanx Pinkfleece and MG for scheduling this trip,

lunarsolo: may need to rethink the setup if snow is expected.

Sounded like a good trip, nice pics included.

Some Ohio hikers that I know went on a backpacking trip down at Wildcat Hollow in the Wayne NF this past weekend. They got caught up in that same snow when they were trying to leave Sunday and had a hell of time getting out of there. Cars slipping and sliding all over those hills. It took most of the afternoon (pushing & towing) before they finally made it to a cleared State Route and headed home.

Hey Fulcrum, how ya been? You should've joined us. The roads weren't so bad where we were, but then I was riding in 4-wheel drive :-)

I have a front wheel drive car and didn't have any problems. I was the last to leave so I know everyone else made it out of the parking lot.:)

*snickers*

I was one of them, Fulcrum. It's always an adventure. ;) Didn't get into Corning until about 6 to re-inflate my tires. Didn't get home until 7:30 last night. Left the trailhead at 2:30. I do have to say that I didn't run into any problems until that last hill going into Corning. Those hills get nasty when the plows don't run until late.

My next vehicle will have all-wheel drive.

Glad everyone here had a good time. :)

PF!!
PF,
All ya have to do is call and order the jacket. They take credit cards. lol. I checked the catalog today and the price is the same. If it had been cheaper, I would just send you the catalog number and you would get the advertised price. The green one is just like the one I have. Remember to check their sizing chart so you get the right size. I am thinking that you are probably a medium
See ya later.

LMAO!!! Windi only had one pic that was postable?! Hehe!
Yep a great time was had by all, and We all got to see just how inferior our tents are to Crash's bad mutha. It was super cool to wake up to all the snow, and a beautiful hike out.

Coyote: The site I was talking about was freezer bag cooking. I'm sure it's in the LINKS section here. SarBar sells the cook books, and runs the web site, though she doesn't actually sell any ready made meal that I know of. Enertia meals are dehydrated I believe, and seem to have pretty good reviews though I have never eaten one myself. Hope this helps.

Glad to hear you had a good trip MsD/all. Yep it's always an adventure...

PINKY!!! Send me those cemetery pics will ya? That was too damn creepy! Possibly the most (reputedly) haunted cemetery in the state and half the graves had my last name! WTF?!

WINDI! Did you get your pack ok? I totally forgot about giving you directions before I bailed. I'm so sorry. Hope all was well, and you had no trouble.
