Skeeters in January?

Yes, here on the OBX, the skeeters never died out because it never froze. Got eaten up while taking photos today.

A couple hundred swans settled into the ponds at the Pea Island wildlife refuge, and a school of dolphins swam along the breakers corralling fish this morning. First day here, the wind was blowing the tops off the breakers and we needed winter coats for the ferry trip to Ocracoke. Today it's in the upper 60s or low 70s.

It won't be easy to leave this place on Sunday.

A couple of years ago I was skiing in NW Wisconsin on a cold, sunny day in February and a mosquito landed on my hand. Very strange. I'm sure he didn't last through the night.

The skeeters and gnats were out here today. It wasn't too bad though.

we have wasps flying around in VA--that should not be this time of yr. Supposedly trees are budding in the Shenandoahs already. And I've been sick for what seems like forever. I hate this weird weather!

Down here it's a hole new ball game....been 100's miles... over flowed swamp, been hit 4 times water moccasin, and the big bad BANANA SPIDER,but most cannot deal with the heat like me in cold.

I usually go by 'Tilt', but I've got a new anti-god device here and need to hunt down my old password. I've been AWOL for a while.

'tilt... Tilt... BLAM' is like the full-blown version, [G]

Well.... in actual fact... in 1995 I got a 4WD (ford exploder) and had the idea that "TILT" would make a interesting licence plate. The next year I was signing on to the BP magazine forum and that just popped into my head (for lack of imagination, or whatever). Anyway, others have said it seems to suit me... being somewhat off-kilter, donchaknow...

I killed a mosquito last week, in Michigan, outside. WTF?!
My fish are still alive too (in my lilypond)to eat the larva.
