Anyone know any place in the Nashville area that I can get my shoulder strap reinforced? It's starting to de-thread and pull away from the pack. My wife sews but she says I need to take it to like a tent & awning place becasue they need to have some heavy-duty sewing machine to get through the fabric and padding etc.

Thanks!

If you're really stuck for a specialty place, you can probably do it yourself.

Buy (where might be another problem) a sailmaker's or upholsterer's needle - large a curved and sew it with dental floss.

This has always worked for me.

Good luck.

I believe EMS will repair gear that was not purchased in their stores for a price.

Can you purchase stuff in their stores that is not for a price?

Perhaps in the reverse order
1. Is the shoulder strap removeable--even with a bit of effort--ie. removing/replacing? I've found Quest Outfitters a good supplier and helpful.

2. Also, Quest will have the needles and thread that Gremlin sugested--maybe not floss.

3.Try a shoe repair shop. Yup, there are some still around. They can handle repairing boots, think they can handle reinforcing a strap.

Buy a Speedy stitcher sewing awl with some of their nylon thread and do it yourself. It's easy and with the Speedy stitcher you are likely to sew a stronger connection than most sewing machines. The course thread that's sold with the unit is very strong.

RichB haven't heard of that. Thanks. Will have to look for it.

Where did you find it?

Cabela's sells them along with probably other online retailers. REI used to, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Send it back or to a repair shop.

Up here there is a kick-a$$ cobbler (in Montreal) that advertises in local outdoor magazines about repairing gear. It's worth the 90 minute drive for me.

You just might get lucky in your area.
