My pack needs repairView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 11 of 11 messages posted.
“Anyone know any place in the Nashville area that I can get my shoulder strap reinforced? It's starting to de-thread and pull away from the pack. My wife sews but she says I need to take it to like a tent & awning place becasue they need to have some heavy-duty sewing machine to get through the fabric and padding etc. Thanks!” 12:57:47 PM 1/15/07 “If you're really stuck for a specialty place, you can probably do it yourself. Buy (where might be another problem) a sailmaker's or upholsterer's needle - large a curved and sew it with dental floss. This has always worked for me. Good luck. Is the shoulder strap removeable--even with a bit of effort--ie. removing/replacing? I've found Quest Outfitters a good supplier and helpful. 2. Also, Quest will have the needles and thread that Gremlin sugested--maybe not floss. 3.Try a shoe repair shop. Yup, there are some still around. They can handle repairing boots, think they can handle reinforcing a strap.” 4:10:47 PM 1/15/07 “Buy a Speedy stitcher sewing awl with some of their nylon thread and do it yourself. It's easy and with the Speedy stitcher you are likely to sew a stronger connection than most sewing machines. The course thread that's sold with the unit is very strong.” 7:36:34 PM 1/15/07 “RichB haven't heard of that. Thanks. Will have to look for it. Where did you find it?” 9:52:38 PM 1/15/07 “Cabela's sells them along with probably other online retailers. REI used to, but I'm not sure if they still do.” 5:24:01 AM 1/16/07 “Send it back or to a repair shop.” 5:54:52 AM 1/16/07 “Up here there is a kick-a$$ cobbler (in Montreal) that advertises in local outdoor magazines about repairing gear. It's worth the 90 minute drive for me. You just might get lucky in your area.” 8:01:34 AM 1/16/07 TWO WORDS “ ![]() ”12:35:29 PM 1/16/07
