“I've been reading your gear threads for awhile now and I gather that the majority of you are in the East someplace and know each other through various outdoor events. I'd like to offer my two cents sometimes in regards your gear questions. I'm in Northern California and work in SAR.”

“Got to admit you are probably correct. I got a late start backpacking about 8 years ago as a Boy Scout leader. Pretty much evolved to internal frame and travelling lighter with SAR. Don't do too many group things outside of SAR anymore. But you have to admit, if I was a snob from the land of fruits and nuts I never would have logged on in the first place. You guys do come up with some unique ideas.....”

This tends to be an "Eastern" or "SouthEastern" board just due to the demographics of the posters.

There are some Western folks who check this site out, though, and we do have trips.
