Does this filter ever dry out??
Got a Katadyn Micro for Christmas and used it last week for the first time.....took the filter out when I got home and it still hasn't dried out. Didn't want any mildew or funk to form in there. Anybody got any advice on this? Thanks

I have the MSR sweetwater and they recommend keeping it in the freezer. I've done this for a couple of years and have had no problems. Just make sure all excess water is pumped out before freezing.

I leave the filter outside the waterbottle when storing. It does take a very long time to completely air dry. Then I also read that when you use it next time to push some water through to "clean out" the system before you drink from it. Check your manual. If it got thrown out with the x-mas wrapping I do have mine, I'd be happy to scan it for you.

does it work? this is something i have wanted to try but was concerned that when I was really thirsty i couldn't get enough water out of the thing fast enough.

It does work, a little on the slow side, but not as slow as waiting 1/2 hour for my tablets and then living with that taste! I do like it, especially when you are crossing a beutiful clear, cold stream and you just have to have some of that water!

Jimmy, I just typed an entire paragraph describing it, but then I realized that it might even be too pornagrapic to end up on: "out of context quotes" so, all I can suggest is that if I ever catch up with you on the trail, I'll let you borrow my bottle. ; )
