I'm getting excited for that weekend. It's been since December since I've slept in a tent.

My fiance wants me to go to a wedding this weekend and work wants me to work! I've never made it to a RRG trip so I must find a way to come!

I would still like to make this but can't commit yet. We have graduation that weekend and it's my job to photograph. I'll try to find a sub.

If I come, I'll be bringing my daughter, Brenn. She's 3.5 :)

But that won't stop me from watching!

With a little luck, I will make it.

I don't want to see meangreen or nigal strip though.

Now, on the other hand, if there are any Hooters girls who show up on this trip, I won't object to a fire side strip show.

Just incase my last post actually worried anyone, as I know many of you have not met me, I will be staying fully clothed and sober.

Sorry Ruby. LOL!

I guess it's time for me to make a decision soon, huh?

First of all, should you choose to be clothed or unclothed, I don't give a rat's ass. But I am bringing our little dog who likes to snap at things that dangle. (He thinks they're treats) So consider yourself warned.

As far as a campsite, I am thinking with this many people that we probably shouldn't camp so close to the road like we did last year. I'll have to pull out my map to figure out the location. I am thinking about the place we stayed at two years ago. It involves a lovely 1.5 mile or so hike in.

I just had a thought. Tell me what you all think. We have always hiked in to a site. What do you all think about stayin at the Koomer Ridge Campground instead? It's located within the Gorge.
Ruby

haven't met ya yet, Ruby. i hiked mammoth cave with this crazy bunch last weekend.

koomer ridge is very nice; they have pit toilets and flush toilets and showers. if you go to the very back loop, we could grab several sites and be out of the way. i'm up for anything. i'm going up early friday so i can get some sites, if ya want.campground, backcountry...whatever!

Chili, are you still bringing your daughter?

yo chili...how far is this shindig from knoxville?

and sorry i missed your question about my dog, sassafras; he was a 135 lb irish wolfhound mix. i say "was" because he passed away last month rather unexpectedly.

so it'll be just me and the girl child, assuming i don't have to drive her for much more than 4 hours...

HC, it's about 4 hours.

Stokley, no, it looks like she will be with her mother that weekend. NGB will be in North Carolina, so it will just be me. I won't be getting back from Nashville until about 8PM, then get things into the Jeep and take off from Townsend. I dont expect to be in the gorge until about midnight at the earliest.

Ruby, I think with the mob that we'll be the campground is a great idea.

has it been determined, yet, where we're going to camp?

Okay. Since no one has objected, and in fact I saw some approval, Koomer Ridge it will be. Looking at the map, it looks like the area where sites 46 - 54 are would be good for us. So whoever gets there first, perhaps you can stake your claim as much as possible.

CMB, I'd love to have you ride with us. To be honest, I'm not sure though. We were planning to take the RAV 4 and there are four of us plus the dog and gear. I wonder about a bigger vehicle? We could take Jon's truck, but there is probably less cab room in that. Let me think on that one.

Geocaching
Does anyone know anything about geocaching? (I don't) Are there any in the area where we are going to be camping? Would this be something to do with the kids for fun?

Here are the geo caches around Slade. There's a bunch and I bet the kids would really like it.

Yes bring wood. There is a great place to get firewood near there. On the way to Koomer Ridge Campgrounds from Slade there is a house that has a wheel borrow full of seasoned fire wood at the end of the lane. Stick $10 in the mailbox and take a whole wheel borrow full of firewood. It's the best fire wood in the area. Lots better than the stuff ya get at a gas station.
