we planned on jerbear being in that picture...fitting, isnt it!

we had a GREAT time. Pink is still here with me (monday night) her car will be ready tomorrow morning (tuesday); the kids have continued their party and playing hard.

Ruby, we're definitely in for next year!!!

Ruby, you have out done yerself. This wknd rocked the free world big time!!! Nothing is better than watching 15 kids explore and fall in love with the woods and water, they will be us in no short time.

Didnt hear or see one squabble the whole time. I hated to leave.

It was great to meet so many new folks and to get to see some great friends.

You all have some fine kids. Work sucks after a wknd like that. I wanted to go swimming dammmit.

Last night I was poking through my bookshelves trying to find something to read before bed and happened upon a book that I forgot I bought. It's a trail guide to RRG. I bought it last year thinking it would help me plan this year's weekend. D'oh!!!

So now I won't forget for next year. Incidentally, it says that if you only do one trail in the gorge it should be the Rock Bridge/Creation Falls loop (which we did this weekend). Thanks Birch and Sass!! =D

Even though it is way early, I am going to post next year's trip on the trip page.

We were lucky to have met some nice folks who recommended two great spots. I could've done w/o all that slick mud on the swimming hole trail but, it was worth slogging through in the long run.

Ruby wasn't it nice having the guys there too? Kinda made it much more relaxing having helpers. Hoping I can get Birch to come back w/us next year.

Oh my gosh, it sure was!! I was thinking on Sunday morning what a treat it was that Jon took down all three tents (with a little assistance from Tucker) while I packed up everything else. It sure is nice to share the load!

In the book I referenced above the author has a "Must-do list." Here it is:

Ride the Sky Lift to Natural Bridge
Eat pizza at Miguel's
Hike the Original Trail to Natural Bridge
See Sky Bridge
See Rock Bridge
See Balanced Rock
Climb the Via Ferrata near Torrent Falls (if you're able)
Drive through Nada Tunnel
Visit the Kentucky Reptile Zoo

I have done most of those things, but there are a few I have not. Next year we should try to incorporate a few more. According to the book, there are some nice views ad arches on relatively short hikes that start and end at Koomer Ridge campground. I think we should allow some time for that as well.

Sounds great! This year was the first time I noticed the Kentucky reptile zoo sign.

We made it home. I'll have some pics up in a few.

Thanks SO MUCH to all of you. To Stokley for taking us in and all of you for being concerned and supportive and helping with the kids to make sure we all still had a good time with all that car mess. You guys are really great!!
