Damn trail vandal! ;-)

What's the story about this place?
I realize the hut is long gone, but was it in the cave or against the rock face?

We couldn't decide. I felt like since the fence extended so far out that it must be protecting debris that was buried from an old hut of some sorts.

the only logical explanation is that dh and birch went back in time and carved their initials in the rock, and then birch used his army training to blow up the cabin, and then dayhiker built the fence

I have not found any info from a google search about the hut.
It just interested me.

Maybe DB built this one? ;-)

I thought the blue pack guy was dayhiker.
He has been posting that he's a lot heavier than he was a few months ago.
From the size of his butt in that picture, I now believe him. ;-)

I thought I read about this somewhere. Years ago didn't they find a piece of old wood that said "Daniel Boone" (only I think it was misspelled) that was presumed to be the remains of his shack or hut? I always thought it was behind the chain link. And then there are mining scraps left there as well from the Civil War era.

There is a scratching on a rock on Round Knob in Mitchell County, NC that reads:

'Danniel
Patriack
1766'

thats the way I read it, its not overly legible, I may be only one of 2 people who have ever noticed it. i've told others and they do not believe me.
