My US passport expired Dec 2006. I wanted to renew it,already had the paper work in the car. [For some reason I thought it would expire in March]

anyway, I need one quick! If I say quick, I mean like now!
My dad did today, and I need to go to germany asap. i am a mess...can't even think straight. If someone can lead me in the right directions please!!!

So sorry to hear that Gem!

Can't suggest a fix for the passport problem, but there's got to be a way. Some other ID... something!

Go to your post office (where they have all the forms) Talk to someone. They may know if there's a way to get special handling for cases like yours.

If they don't know, they should be able to tell you who does ---

My wife and I got both got ours the same day but you have to go to a passport agency. The way it works is you have to show the documents that prove that you are going out of country within two weeks (airline itenerary, ect.). You will have to pay a expidite fee and you will get it same day if you're appointment is in the am, if it is in the afternoon then it will be the next day. I can't remember but I think the fee is 150 bucks (it ain't cheap) but the company I work for paid mine and then a couple of years later they paid my wifes and flew her to Martinique to see me.
Hope you get it all sorted, PM me or post again if you need more details, Ed

With your situation I would hope they would waive the x-tra fee.

Terribly sorry about your loss.

I don't know where you live, but if it's near a city there should be a passport office, or Border protection office. They have procedures for cases such as yours to get immediate papers. If all else fails, go to the airport and see the Border Protection people there - they can probably set you up.

Good luck.

You live in Columbia, SC right? Call your US House of Representative's office or the office of Senator Linsey Graham or Senator Jim DeMint. They will expedite your request. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your father.
