Need help with Glacier planning
I will be going to Glacier this summer and have never even been to Montana. Can anyone give me info on hiking Glacier? I would like to do 3 or 4 day backpacking. I know it sometimes hard to get the trails your request but problem is I don't even know what trails to ask for. I want the ones with the most senic views. Can anyone help me?

Sounds like you need to do some homework.

The Highline has absolutely non-stop incredible views, I highly recommend going for that.

Hit your local bookstore and find a hiking guide for Glacier, that'll help.

It's really hard to wrong at Glacier, so even if you don't get the exact reservations you're looking for, head on up there anyways, you'll be able to get an incredible hike even as a walk in.

Garden Wall (The Highline Trail) is phenomenal. Another highlight is Stony Indian Pass.....

You really can't go wrong in Glacier.

Get a book, like Bison said - call the rangers, they'll help you put something together too.

Any trail is good in Glacier.

From Two Medicine there is a fantastic loop over Dawson and Pitamakan Passes.

There are also great loops possible out of Swiftcurrent.

Just be aware that Red Eagle Lake area is closed due to a bad burn last fall.

If your local library is involved with the interloan program, they can get almost any book, dvd, or VHS tape you might want and it cost nothing.

Also check into the Glacier Bus routes. This allows you to do a straight hike then catch a bus to get back to your car.

But the bus doesn't go everywhere though. You can also get luck and hitch hike back as if your seen wearing a backpack in Glacier most people aren't to scared of ya.

Thanks for all the help. I have some work to do and if anybody wants to give me anymore advice and which trails I should seek, please feel free to do so.

Looks like I may be hitting that same area as well. Sections 5 thru 18, starting sometime in August. I'm pumped.
