North Dome & Sherrill Hike 1/27/07
Hi, Bruce... Mellonie here from the Catskill hike (inquiry on the NJ mtn biking group). I couldn't remember the name of the site you told me - I was exhausted after the full day hike and drive to and from the Catskills from NW NJ. I'm an intermediate ability rider but I like to take it slow so maybe beginner would be best until I see where I fit in. I also hike with a cardio group out of Weis Ecology Center (Ringwood, NJ) and like to plan longer, more challenging hikes (completed SBM and Escarpement, looking forward to Devil's Path this summer). Feel free to e-mail me with any adventures in this area. Maybe our paths will cross again! Mellonie MelSan56@aol.com

Welcome to TT! I didn't get to meet you ~ but I was on the trip last weekend where we crossed paths. And we thought we'd have the place to ourselves. ;)

Check out the "Trips" page on here - always something going on ~ hope you can join in the fun!

hey Melanie! I was there at the great bushwhack conjunction as well! Nothing like two large groups traveling in either direction bushwhacking on trailess mountains in the middle of no where! Yes, thanks for the trampled trail. I think we put our compasses away at the trailhead. :)

Stay tuned for Bruce Almighty!

Hi Mellonie! I'm glad you found us. Wow, that was a full day for you if you drove up from NJ, hiked and drove home. It was a great day to be out in the woods though.

Here is the mountain bike site I was telling you about: Mtbr.com

It's a very active forum with tons of different categories to choose from, including separate state forums. You'll find the New Jersey forum pretty active.

At the top of the site page, click on "trails" to the right of reviews, and you'll be able to find tons of trails in Jersey. Two of my favorite places are Allamuchy and Round Valley, and there's great riding here in nearby Pa.

For hiking, check out our trips page here as there is always something going on. My bike is kinda collecting dust in the winter, but I hope to get out a lot this spring and summer. Maybe I'll see you on the trail soon, either by foot or bike (or both: doing a hike and bike is fun!).
