A Blessed Song
I just have to share this song, it has blessed me greatly every time I have heard it. I've been in the desert place, I've been on the road marked with suffering, I've sat in the darkness alone. I've also seen His Glory and miracles shine down on me, where it's easy to find the blessings. This song always brings tears to my eyes, I always find my arms raised in the air to my Abba when these words/notes are played, it's real. Let me know if it touches your heart the same way it touches mine.

Pamela

Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

I wish I knew the tune. It is probably familiar to me but I can't recall it from looking at the words. (And my realPlayer couldn't play the St James file.)

Thank you for sharing. His lovingkindness is everlasting.

The song, "Blessed Be Your Name," was written by Matt and Beth Redman a couple of weeks after 9/11/01. They had been thinking about the fact that most worship songs are written about how we tend to be thankful to God in the good times, and that there needed to be some songs where we rejoice in God's blessings during times of trial. The song is based on Job 1:21, where Job said, in essence, "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord." Awesome song!

there are a few songs that really deep down are very much a part of who i am, they just feel right, one is on my myspace, and this here is another one. every trial i have ever had, has taught me something, has given me something very valuable to share with another person or persons.

I am re-sharing this song. On the way home from my interview it played on the radio. I know it was meant for me. I have to praise my Lord no matter what I am going through. I know my interview was not strong. The answer to my prayer may be "NO". I will get through this. Maybe it's just delayed. He may be telling me I am not ready. Maybe He has something better in mind. I don't know. I will just pray for strength and acceptance. Hopefully you all will lift me too.

The thing I find most bizarre about the Ashcroft vid is it was presented at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I couldn't get through the whole vid, my ears just wouldn't take it. But I found the whole thing a bit Idolatrous for a seminary venue. Oh well.

Suggesting I don't know the definition of a common word - even snidely telling me to look it up - is pretty much the definition of condenscension, sassafras.

It's interesting - one minute christians will rip on a fellow christian over something minor. The next, they'll flock together in support when a fellow christian has put on a display of decidedly unchristian behavior.

Very childish, as are your religious myths.

I tried Ramblinrev, but the link isn't working. Thanks toejam, I registered. I have 8 versions of this song loaded and I play them one after another! REALLY, I need to remember this song over and over every single day. I am such a whiner. I need to remember that I have food and shelter and clothing and that no one is warring in my backyard. I have so many extras beyond that! I am so truly blessed beyond measure, someone should smack me upside the head every time I complain.

That's great Pam. Thanks. It's tough for Christians and non-Christians to actually be able to give thanks for everything to God. Our selfish nature often prevents us from appreciating the greater plan in store.

It's all part of the plan, Stan.

I'm glad that you guys can appreciate that. I'm having tough times and so I am reminding myself to give thanks. I made my decision going in knowing that there would be tough times and I know it will be worth it in the long run. My only wish is that my huband would trust me on this and be supportive.

When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say...
Blessed be the name of the Lord!
