Need Input on Mary Jane's Meals!!!
Ok... I've read the other threads on food options. Not many people have said much about Mary Jane's meals. At this moment, I have used Enertia meals, but am looking to expand my options for food choices. I am not interested at this point to do my own dehydrating - just don't have the time. So I was wondering if anyone has tried the Mary Jane's food and can give me a heads up on which ones are worth buying and which to stay away from!!! Thanks a bunch :)

Seems like I had the potatoes a while back (the 'Couch Potatoes'?) and they were quite tasty. I believe I did add a dash of salt and a squirt of margarine...

I remember now... They were sold out of just about everything else at that particular time. I meant to go back to their website later and try some of their other selections, but that plan got lost in the shuffle somehow.

Thanks for the reminder --- !

I've had a lot of the pasta ones...most of them are really good! The plain mac & cheese was pretty tasteless...but the others with more spices/flavors added were deeelish.

If I remember right they need more cooking than some of the others right?

Wow I thought this was something different...I was going to write....the few times I tried MJ containing food I ended up as hungry as when I started.

Thanks for the info so far... I think I am going to try a few... just don't know which ones yet! I'll make sure I update once I try 'em to let everyone else know how they are :)

I've heard that it's pretty good stuff.

I guess Mary Jane did cook the meals on Gilligan's Island. She looks like the "domesticated" type....

That was Mary Ann. ;o)

GORP, jerky, hard cheese, and tortillas... Who could ask for anything more?!

Of course, this is coming from the woman who hasn't been on the trail for more than five days in a row.

Let us know what you think of them!

I will post after I have tried them. Hoping to try them out on a few shorter trips before the big trip to Glacier this summer. Don't want to get stuck on day 3 of 6 with yucky food!!

Thank you for correcting stanlee, sunshine.
The sweet Mary Ann was every schoolboy's dream girl back in the day.

Obviously you never found the thread with the long and contentious Mary Jane vs. Enertia disscusion.

Mary Janes are excellent, you won't end up with any "yucky" food. I take some Mary Janes Farms meals on every trip.

Honeybunches...just an idea for you...

I've taken several long hiking trips and find that "variety" is the key to enjoying food on the trip.

What I am looking at starting with from Mary Janes

1. Black bean corn bread with honey
2. Griddle cakes
3. Northwest garden couscous
4 Eat your veggies pasta
5. Nick's couch potatoes
6. Breakfast frittatas
7. Garlic pesto fry bread
8. Spuds w/ spinach and cheese

MDSHiker, I think your sage advice is being ignored.

Not ignoring at all!!! Already placed my Enertia order... so I am adding to the collection of food already started... I have lots of trips planned for the year... four at least already. So I need lots of food!!!

Honeybunches, from what I have tried by MJ, most of it is good. The fry bread is pretty tasty (though you need a real pan!).
But, not knocking it, the portions can be a bit smaller than most outdoor meals. And you really could make your own meals, and have them organic, and instant-ready-to-go for a whole lot less!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Mountainrunner and I will try some of them out on our upcoming trip in April and I will let you know how they are!!!
