North Face Vario 23 vs...View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 4 of 4 messages posted.
Debate “Does anyone on here own the North Face Vario 23? I currently own a simple Coleman Exponent Inyo 2 man and am debating between which would be better for a trip I'm taking this summer to Canada. I'll be out in the weather for over 2 months (bike touring) and I'm considering getting the North Face Vario 23 but I'm questioning it's durability. Has anyone here taken any of North Face's ultralight tents on a major trip, and if so, how has it held up? There's no reviews for it on the site...” 11:33:36 AM 2/06/07 “It would not appear so. Besides, this is a fuego website with an occasional hiking dalliance.” 8:58:53 AM 2/07/07 bentimby - North Face Vario 23 “Unless you've found a better deal North Face Vario 23 is running around $270. The North Face Heron 23 is an ultralight weighing a few ounces more and it can be purchased directly on ebay without bidding for $159 plus shipping etc. Why spend an extra $100 for a tent you know little about and still end up with a 3 season, 2 person tent? They are both ultralights. Do some homework and think it over. Who knows, it just might be what you're looking for. http://cgi.ebay.com/North-Face-Heron-23-Tent-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ110090028370QQihZ001QQcategoryZ36118QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem last edited: 2/12/07 2:43:10 PM” 2:38:36 PM 2/12/07 vario 23 “i disagree with FrogPrince. i have a Vario 23 and it rocks. i did get it before MSR came out with their 2007 Hubba Hubba, though. if you're looking at slick, sturdy, ultralight 2-man tents i'd suggest you take a look at the Vario, the Hubba Hubba, and Sierra Design's Baku 2. Big Sky's new Revolution tent might be worth checking out, too, but it just doesn't seem like it would have the durability of these others. last edited: 2/13/07 11:32:32 PM” 11:31:01 PM 2/13/07
