Kind of off topic, but I just heard that there are plans for an REI to open up in my area! Up until this point I've never been to one as the closest one to me is outside of Boston over 200 miles away.

There is one closer now zac. They just opened in West Hartford. Not exactly close to me either but closer than Boston

A downside, I just placed an order online and now they charge sales tax because they have a store in the state.

Socks are good. I was thinking maybe some superfeet for my new boots. I wouldn't mind a precip shell and saw the outlet has this

for sale. But I don't know much about the "membrane" technology. And the snot color isn't so great.

I got an email from REI telling me my dividend would expire if I didn't use it, so I ordered a Petzl Tikka Plus led headlamp.

Naw, I got a hard shell parka, a daypack and enough freeze-dried food to choke a horse. Which don't take much, the way that crap tastes.

Your dividend notice is good for merchandise immediately upon receipt, or you may request a check for your dividend at any time prior to the expiration date stated on your notice. REI issues checks weekly, from July 1 through December 31, yearly.

Request your check

I reckin I will take NGB over there Saturday.

She pretty much owns a corner of that place now. But the folks at Steep and Cheap know her voice when she calls.

Yeah, what gave?

Thrifty, you are missing out if you don't hit the january Clearance, esp if you have kids. I get Abby's coat for next year at about 75% off every January. Last year she got a REI three in one with growth tucks in the sleeves (so it will actually last two years) for $25. It's nice quality too.

TNF Freedom snowboarding pants and TNF Greenland winter boots. Too damn cold. I was plenty warm wearing my capilene 2's and a pair of corduroy pants.

TNF quit making good outdoor tech stuff years ago. They make yuppie crap for mass markets now.

Yep. Columbia's winter boots are pretty good though. They actually fit snug enough to use while snowshoeing, etc, w/out risk of blisters.

We made an REI run today but managed to escape without doing a lot of damage.

I battled through the opening rush Friday. I only managed to see 1 parking lot fight however.

My biggest damage was my new REI synthetic, Primaloft, helix jacket. Was in dire need of a lighter jacket.

Also picked up trek poles, REI's heavy-butt, Camp bed, and Columbia pants.

I need a headlamp and Top-pop mittens though.
