You gotta be kidding me. Two kids, 16 & 17 take pics of themselves naked and now are being charged with child porn laws.

Dan Savage warned of this long ago. I believe at least one case exists where the person, as an adult, let out some photos of him "under age" and so was charged as an adult.

The possibility, (or fact?) then exists that you have to register as a sex offender.

Makes alot of sense that they are going to protect these kids and their future by slapping them with a child porn conviction that will stick with them forever.

the law needs to be re-written. this was a foreseeable occurence that could have been prevented

so, is it statutory rape if you punch the bishop before youre 18?

With the way technology is changing our culture, these kids should have known better.

Hopefully other kids will learn from this and opt out of this type of action; it's obviously not worth it.

Well the really crappy thing is in Georgia we had a football player who was invited to a "party" he was I think...and there were some 15 and 16 year old girls "laying out the buffet"

Apparently he yodeled in the canyon so to speak rather than do the full hippyhop...if he had gone all the way he would have gotten a break under the Romeo and Juliet laws....this is crap.

"“Well the really crappy thing is in Georgia we had a football player who was invited to a "party" he was I think...and there were some 15 and 16 year old girls "laying out the buffet""

"Dike-outs" are seem to be pretty common these days. So are "Sandwich Parties".

Things I was doing in high school are being realized at the middle school level.

I'm sorry. I have to disagree. There is no logic in busting someone for this.

A. "Child Pornography" has severe, exploitive, connotations. Getting busted for taking pictures of yourself? What's next - getting arrested for masturbation under "child auto/mono-incest law"?

2. Children don't learn. Invincible and Immortal. That's what Kids know.

I fail to see how someone can victimize themselves.

Well, statutory rape is sexual intercourse between an adult and someone below a statutorily designated age.

Therefore/ergo/sum, your joke made no sense and is KaKa.

I can see how exposing those pictures to the Internet, regardless of who the intended audience is, makes an attractive nuisance.

But seriously, who actually ever got thrown in jail for creating an attractive nuisance? I mean, the potential crime hasn't even been committed yet.

I honestly think that we're letting our emotions run just a little bit too unchecked here and it's starting to impact how we feel about our constitutional obligations...

"I'm sorry. I have to disagree."

Please do.

"There is no logic in busting someone for this."

I do not agree. These "kids", or a much better term "teenagers", are much more knowledgeable about what goes on around in this world, than in the past. The internet has given them a connection the likes never seen with any species, or culture/civilization for that matter, ever. This is a very powerful thing.

What impacts this powerful thing, is the ideals by our culture that there should be nothing wrong, or shouldn't bust, with what these teenagers did. They do know better and they "play" the double standards our culture presents to them.

-Don't have premarital sex-
Teens of both sexes showing way too much skin in Ambercrombe adds.

-Being pregos at 16 is not a good thing-
So the girls now blow their boyfriends so that they will not get pregos (and besides, the President did't say it was sex -- no, really, I've heard it used), exposing themselves to many STD's and negative social stereotypes.

The list goes on. Personally, if they don't want preteens, teens and pre-adults to have any type of sexual contact, don't encourage it through mixed signals. However, our social culture has deemed this type of contact (let's not forget that they were engaged in a sexual act) is not acceptable; and I agree with the collective on this.

What crime is committed if a 17yr old boy and a 16yr old girl have had consensual sex?

Teens having sex is new?

as HPM said, where's the victim?

I would be willing to believe that you can get over a few pictures of you on the net well verses having to list yourself as a sex offender or carry a criminal record for child porn. I mean most new things on the net is old news in less than a month.

So by charging these kids I still fail to see how they are helping their future.
