Some nut job just ran through the Trolley Square Mall in SLC tonight and killed a bunch of people with a shotgun before he was taken out by an off duty police officer who was dining in one of the mall restaurants. What goes on in people's heads? KSL News Story

and this in Philly: looks like details are limited.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- -- Three people are dead and another critically wounded in a shooting at a marketing firm in Philadelphia's old Navy Yard, police said.

It was uncertain whether the shooter was among the casualties, according to police.

Initially, police reported that five people had been killed.

The shootings took place at Zigzag Net, police said

Police also said another person was shot in the stomach and taken to a hospital.

The nursing supervisor at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital told CNN the hospital received a patient with a gunshot wound who is in critical condition.

Police are investigating the incident.

I guess people completely lose it sometimes. Some folks are mentaly disturbed right from the start. Job, money, family pressure. The one guy who would have known for sure why is dead now.
Major props for the off duty cop. It takes some big cajones to face down a maniac with a shotgun.

We never know how bad things can be for other people sometimes. We can only take so much at times. This pressure manifests itself in different ways for different people.

It is, however, one more glaring example of the failure of gun control to keep people safe.
