Hey all, mountainrunner and I are taking a last minute overnight trip starting at the Siver Bay trailhead on the Superior Hiking Trail. We will be there around noon central time on Friday and plan on hiking to Bear lake to stay the night. If anyone is interested - - come on out and join us!

I would love to go but I do not know when I get off of work Friday, Plus I have My annual NCT meeting on Sunday and I am not sure of making that. You and mountainrunner should stay in touch more neighbor

Ski jumping could be fun... never watch. My uncle used to be a ski jumper - back in the day

You're probably gone... BUT... there's a way cool geocache at Silver Bay.

we had to walk across a bunch of huge rocks on a breakwater structure to a small island at the south end of town. Then climb UP a rickety rope maybe 20 ft. straight up this rocky island. I was chicken and didn't do it, but dryfoot did, to get the cache. If you're up for it (hahahaha "UP") it would be cool. Course maybe that is all ice now, I dunno.

Photos:

and logs for the geocache, well be SURE to check the photos on the page:

But no one's done it since Dec. Not a good sign

It's good to see that mountainrunner is getting his priorities straight and following through with his new year's resolution. Have a great time and bring back pics and stories!

Got out of work late today - not leaving for Duluth until tomorrow morning. Spending the day in Duluth Friday - just hanging out. Saturday morning will be heading to Silver Bay.

Well, we'll head out in the morning. Supposed to be real cold and windy - should make for an interesting day. We've talked it over and may drop base camp at Bear Lake and speed hike up to Mt. Trudee (sp?)..... If you are evrer in town, I would suggest Hacienda De Sol - nice little mex place on Superior St.

No stinking snow up here!! This has been an incredible winter --- UP has no snow, North Shore has no snow -- wierd.

Have a good night :) We're gonna head down and cause some trouble on Canal St.
