How was the section from FR-326 to M-64? Were there any good views from atop Bergland Hill. I read that there isn't much of a view up there, so this was one of the reasons I ended our hike at FR-326.

We spent our last night a mile west of FR 400 and returned back to that road where Prosecutor's and my vehicles were parked...he transported everyone but me back to Old Victoria and their vehicles Monday morning. Injuries and return drive times made that the best option.

Sounds like I missed a good one. When you plan the west to east hike, I am there.

So you wouldn't have crossed Bush creek, which is 3.5 miles west of FR-400. Always a good idea, to spot a vechile near mid-point on a trip, as you never know what can happen. We did the same, only Old Victoria was our mid-point/resupply

You guys ended here then?

Remember Prosecutor said the blazing nearest the roads are the best ones...

Another consideration up in that area, are all the Beaver floodings. Although almost all we came upon were older with no fresh cuttings or recent work to their dams?
All it would take, is for them to get active in an area along the trail and they could flood / wipe-out the trail in a hurry.

Also, you may want to email Doug Welker about the poor trail marking condictions.

Its my understanding that his chapter does some trail work, but not all of it. When I contacted him after our hike, and told him about all the blow-downs we encountered east of Old Victoria, He mentioned that some portions of the trail are maintained by the Ottawa N.F. ?

I did seem the blazes near the roads were better with the ones out in the middle of no-where lacking.

There were a surprising number of trees laying on the ground with blazes. It made wonder if the blazes were heavier than the looked.....lol

Again, since I made it out safely, I actually enjoyed the challenge of picking my way through the woods. It was like "treasure hunt"....
