Has anyone been to Savage Gulf and Hobbs Cabin lately? Wondering if they have finish repairing the fire place in the cabin.

According to Ewker, the fireplace has been finished. He reported on it a few weeks ago.

Cool! I couldn't believe with all of the dead wood in that area someone would put coal in the fireplace. But it needed replacing anyway.

Thanks for the info. Going to Hobbs in a couple of weeks.

We hiked to Hobbs a couple of months ago. We found a short cut that eliminated 2.5 miles out of the hike. There is a jeep trail that you can take. Only problem is that Ranger Shinn isn't too happy when you take it. But he only travels that jeep path in the afternoons. So when we go we only use it early in the morning on our way into cabin area. He doesn't hit the trails until about 9-10am...
