Definitely Whiteblaze. Get Wingfoot's book for more good info on mail drops, addresses etc.

The Thruhikers Guide is a great publication, covering virtually everything you need to know on a thruhike. Most thruhikers carry it with them.

i second what everyone else said. i havent read baltimores article, but i do know that he is arguably the single greatest source of info on the trail, having spent more time on the trail than i have in commited relationships.

i would also like to add: stick to gear and maps for your post office drops, buy food as you go. no need to waste money and time planning for and mailing food drops when there are plenty of trail towns within easy walking or hitching distance

Check out the AT Conservancy website. Besides the bookstore, there is a lot of good information there.

website ??? I never had a website - the closest I came was a couple pages on StoveStomper's site which was moved over to Cloudwalkers site for a while and then deleted - so I guess you have to say I'm siteless ;-)

I hosted Stovestomper's site on my server for a while but I deleted it at his request.

Sorry about that Cloudwalker - didn't mean to imply that the stuff disappeared without it being requested to be deleted

I had Cloudwalkers site in my favorites all the time. thats where I saw your page Hog, if I had remebered about his site. I wouldnt have needed to post. it has everything he needs, maps, drop sites and addresses, and other great sites to check out. great job on that site Cloud walker. now I just need to find some freezer bag cooking ideas for him. thanks again everyone.
