I was gone the end of last week and over the weekend... and I haven't looked super hard through the threads... BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANYONE TALKING ABOUT THE NEW LAYOUT I'M SEEING ON TT!!

And the weird thing is, at work I'm seeing the same old layout as always.

... BUT... at home I'm seeing a page that lets you readily access up to 10 of the most recent web pages (and then older, with a "next>>" offering.

And each thread makes available a "jump to" feature, listing up to six web pages available for a thread, including the first three and last three.

I like the old format better.

BUT... Why am I seeing two different formats on my two different computers??????

I was going to wait for a thread on it, but it's WED -- and I haven't noticed such a thread yet. Plus, I KNOW the cold meds aren't that good, to keep me seeing things that aren't really there. LOL!

I noticed this too. It may be the different versions of Explorer, or perhaps the screen resolution.

I do like the cleaner "version" much better.

That's interesting, lizs.

I've had those "new" options you're seeing for quite some time now. When I made the switch to Firefox a while back, the format didn't change for me at that time.

Perhaps one of your computers is just functioning in some sort of weird time portal.

I updated my home computer to IE 7 and it does take some getting used to.

liz,
I made that change in August. Basically, if you are logged out, you will see the "new" layout. If you are logged in, you see the old layout.

Wow, I'm in a time warp!

I've been logged in and logged out on both computers -- because I've cleared out cookies.

Still... two different layouts. Weirdo-mundo!

EDIT: I'm on IE 6 whatever at home. Am on Safari on the Mac at work.

lizs --

Save yourself some trouble and go with Firefox.

Mucho better than IE; even the new version.

What's up with this color (puke green)
That's north, south - east, west on the screen?
Holy cow! I scrolled down,
And look what I found -
The whole page is like nothing I've seen!”

“Okay now - this is wierd!
My previous post has been smeared.
I booted the screen;
It's no longer puke green,
Or at least not the hue I had feared
.”

I apologize to those who may be offended by the term "puke". It is a repulsive word. I do not know what got into me. I will make every effort to avoide the use of the term in the future. Again, my apologies.

If running Windows, you can just go to the Windows Update and install it there.

Firefox can be found here:

I see it when logged in and select "all"
Matt, I came in to work yesterday and suddenly fuego was unchecked and "all" timeframe was selected. I got the extra links and different view. Then I selected "4 days" again and the old view came back. Still logged in both ways. Are you supposed to see the new view with "all"?

The "new" view is only intended for people new to TT and for the search engines. The "old" view it for people who log in and post to TT. Once you log in, you should be seeing the "old" view.

i keep getting a banner that says "take a survey" from questionmarket.com and then a long pause then the tt page loads. actually i think it let up a few hours ago. a click on "reload" resolved the problem with a new banner.

Just to let ya know... on my home computer I have a combination of the versions mentioned by Matt when I'm logged in.

I'm seeing the additional pages available, as already mentioned. BUT.... I don't see the sub-categories listed with one to a line at the top (as in when a person is logged out). I just see two lines beneath "Trail Talk:" one that says "Jump to sub-category" and below it one that says "Reset Main View Categories."

Anyway, it's interesting that there are variations. Right now "Fuego" is unchecked on mine. I didn't do that. Every so often is shows up that way.

"Ghosts in the machine?" (to quote The Police from long ago....)
