Wow, that picture is deceiving. - should have read the description first. Looks like it has 3 lights.

so I was able to snag one of those Big Agnes Moon Hill bags yesterday! Now that I ordered one I am trying to find out a little about them, but can't find any reviews and I am assuming that it is a discontinued model because I couldn't find it on the website. Anyone have one or know anything about them?

Hey Mose, I don't have that model but have the 20° Zirkel and the 35° Horse thief. The system works great. You can toss and turn all night and never fall off your sleepy pad. You will not get any drafts either. I worried that the hood opening might not follow my face as I sleep on my side but haven't had any issues at all. My bags are a bit higher fill (750) than yours (600) but you got yourself a great sleep system for a fantastic price. BA makes great stuff!

Big Agnes Moon Hill Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down w/ Mummy Pad

$165

The bag is just under 3#'s which sounds good. The pad that comes with it is 2# 2oz which isn't so good.

I've been thinking about getting a zero bag. I have been wondering how well this system works with no insulation on the underside of the bag. You've got the pad on the backside, but I sleep on my side. So basically my back would only have the air pad for insulation against the cold.

Is that right? Or maybe I misunderstand the system.

Nah, Its about 4#s and that includes the mat for a winter outing thats not bad. Got mine! Woohoo!

Creek dancer - Its a proven system. The mat stays on the bottom even if your on your side cuz its flat. Awesome deal. Sub $ 200 for a zero down bag.

It works very much like a quilt.

Yeah I got that part, but when you are on your side, you only have the air mat to protect you from the cold because there is no insulation in the backside of the bag. Right?

Nice deal though. Let me know how you like it!

How is it 4#'s? The bag is 2#12 oz and the pad is 2#2 oz for 4#14 oz which is basically 5 when you throw in stuff sacks and repair kits.

Dont matter if yer on your side back or whatever. The pad is insulated enough to keep you warm.

Ummmm.. I slept thru math class? Bottom line I figure thats about average for winter weight. Unless your spending $$$ for 900 fill. IMHO

Creek Dancer, it works very very well. No drafts and your back stays just as toasty as the rest of you. I have two bags by BA built the same way.

That's great Sass and Jackstraw. I am such a whiney butt about the cold, so I am glad to hear that the system actually works. I might just give it a try. Hopefully it will come up again for sale on SteepandCheap. I think I have seen in 2 or 3 times now.

That's true. I have read about the leak problems. But my Insulmat developed leaks too. The difference is that if the BA pad leaks, then the whole system is shot.

I've been trying to figure it out, but can anyone tell me what kind of pad this Big Agnes Moon Hill system uses? What is the one that comes with it if you buy it on SAC, anyone have a link to it?

I contacted BA about the Moon Hill not being on their site. Here's the reply

Hi John. The Moonhill is made especially for some of our great dealers like Backcountry.com (who runs steapandcheap.com). It is a fantastic bag and they have it marked down to a great price. All the info you need can be found on Backcountry's site, but if you don't see something you're looking for just let me know.

Now THAT is cool, scrubby...I have Steep and Cheap come up as my homepage because awhile ago I wanted an Exped Downmat 7 short and I knew it showed up on and off...well, it eventually DID show up and I got one but in the meantime, many other temptations also appeared...your alert would have saved me some $$$...now, I am hooked so it is too late to save me but may save others...LOL...

If i'm interested in many items on SAC, I just use the sacsearcher multiple times? can many searches be linked to my email or just one at a time?

Yeah, just create a new alert for each item. That way, when you get that item, you can just delete that alert.

@humanpackmule I know that SAC has a bunch of ways to get alerted when a new item comes up, but you can't just get alerted on the items you care about. That is why I put this together.
