AT Plan suggestion “Im needin some advice from you guys.I would like to section hike the entire AT over the course of...? Starting at Springer, hiking for approx 10 days at a clip. (probably 2 consecutive weeks each year in nice weather)What is a reasonable distance to shoot for. I know there are lots and lots of variables here (weather, health, endurance, not in a rush either)but i need to have some kind of itenerary or i might never come back.Hehe. Im exploring the idea of bus or train to get to springer but i need a plan on getting back to New York. Thanks” 5:14:56 PM 2/23/07 “you can get a shuttle service from ATL to the springer trailhead. There's tons of info for what your asking about at whiteblaze.net your mileage depends heavily on what kind of condition your in and how hard you want to push. If you get the map sets it sort fo breaks down into sections based on road crossings and whatnot.” 5:29:26 PM 2/23/07 “Good advise roam around www.whiteblaz.net for all the information you need. Better hurry the crowds are getting ready to leave last edited: 2/23/07 7:22:27 PM” 7:20:15 PM 2/23/07 “A workable average is 100 miles a week. If you have a long way to go to get to the trail or if you are really out of shape you might plan on a little less, or if you are in very good shape you might go a bit farther, but 100 miles is a good average. So figure 10 years to do the whole thing.” 8:00:57 PM 2/23/07
