Describe your boss: Any way you choose

“He owns:
A tour company, several Cab and shuttle/bus companies, vacation rental properties, condo rental properties, Apartments, Cafe's.

My boss is a total a$$. He is loyal to me and a few others he has yet to fire. He screams obscenities to at least 5 customers a day. Seriously, he verbally destroys anyone and everyone that crosses his way if he is in a bad mood. He has countless BBB and Chamber of comerce complaints across several states. His few other employees/operations managers are constantly mopping up his tirades and #&%!$-fits and we recieve them too! I think the only reason that we still work for him or that he even has a functional company is because we are not scared of him and we know how to handle his fits.... lightly.

Ultimatley, his companies will fail - bar none.

I actually enjoy working for the B@stard because he is extemely intelligent and works harder than anyone in top management than I have ever met. He is increasingly loyal to employees that stick with him and continue to put up with his antics. I love the responsibility of my job and knowing that if I quit that he can not replace me. I am an extemely moral but open minded person. His attacks on others and his arrogance makes me sad on a daily basis and I just do not know if I can stomach much more.
I gave him notice and my last day is in about a month. Whew.

It's going to be hard the next thirty days to actually end on a good note.
I am 25 but I feel really old fashioned. Have a backbone America!

So how awesome/terrible is your company/boss?

Feel free to be anonymous with specific information. I really want to hear from really happy people who love their jobs and miserable people who just want to escape.

“only 1 of 3 boy managers. 1 of 2 boy idiots. he talks down to us as if we are children; especially if you are female. he certainly doesn't know our job, he doesn't even know his own job. all boy managers where i am are a-holes, and they ALWAYS treat women as less then. the d.m. sucked the best managers out of us. the store is falling down around our ears as everyone vacates.

“I've got a great boss. Right now we're in the middle of year end assessments. There are 4 team members to review and 5 of their direct reports to provide input on. I've always thought that assessments should be provided for superiors as well. I know I could only improve by being told my managerial strengths and weaknesses to my face.”

My boss gives me alot of autonomy, yet she dictates my every move - 24/7. She's willing to follow most of my recommendations, but recognizes when I'm wrong, and does as she see's most fitting - which is always right. She's very bright and cheerful. She and her hubsand Gizmeaux are a joy to work for.”

“I actually told my boss what I thought of him today! He's kind, respectful, brillant, fair and treats his employees like he wants to be treated.

“My boss's are both great. The boss that started the company is now 75 and still wants to grow the company. With him, family comes first and the job comes second as he knows that the job will always get done.

He just made a bunch of money from being on the board of another company and ended up donating $5 million dollars to the the only 4 year college in our state, the University of Wyoming (State will match that as well).

He has also told us numerous times that when he dies, everyone will get a portion of the company because we, the employees, are the ones that have made the company work, and made the company money.

Supposedly, there is some formula in his will that says based on salary and years of service will dictate how much each employee gets.

“My boss actually backpacks! He has been real cool with me being off work 8 days in the last month. And he wants me to take him flyfishing, so when I get well I think I will. BTW, I'm getting laid off for a plant rebuild and will get sup-pay to make up the difference in unemployment. He on the other hand doesn't know what is going to happen to his job. As an engineer by trade, looks like he would have it made, but with so much of that work going overseas now its a real bummer. I wish him the best of luck.”

“So, my boss gets canned a few weeks ago. The official explanation is "His position was eliminated". Granted our department has been "reorganized" (how could it be REorganized when it was never organized in the first place) and all the managers jobs have changed but he was the only one that was let go.

So I went about 2-3 weeks with out a boss. Pretty nice. I got my new boss yesterday. I skipped lunch so I could knock off an hour early and sent her an email explaining same. I came in this morning to an email from her that said "That's fine for today but due to OSHA if you work 8 hours you have to take a lunch. If I have to do it again it will have to be approved ahead of time." WTF!!?? OSHA!!?? I work in a frigin office! This is the first time anyone's said something like this to me in my 5 years working here. This is going to be interesting.

The kick in the balls is I couldn't stand my last boss and was hoping to get someone better this time. It's still too early to tell but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.”

“Women always go balls to the wall first then settle down (if your lucky). IME, Female bosses always feel the need to make sure you know who's boss. Kow tow a bit and I betcha she'll take a liking to you and let you do whatever you want.

My boss is a giant blond woman who won't let anyone touch the thermastat w/o her permission. I just do my work, and sweat, and go. If I had to be there and interact with her constantly like the office workers do I'd find somewhere else to work. She's pretty nice when you just see her every once i awhile though. And for some crazy reason she likes me and seems to think I do no wrong. She'll learn, lol.

Crash, there's no union or origization. OSHA is a goverment body that sets rules for the work place.
