PUR Explorer Water Filter

“I have an old PUR Explorer water filter that will need a replacement cartridge before next winter. PUR no longer lists the Explorer and hasn't returned my email regarding it.

I've also contacted Katadyn hoping for a compatible refill cartridge haven't heard from them yet either. Any ideas?”

“I sent an email to a place called outdoorplaces.com that used to sell PUR Explorers requesting information. I'm waiting to hear from them. The nearest real gear store is over 50 miles away.

Thanks for pitching Aqua Mira anyway but I've siphoned clear drinkable water out of a mudhole using my PUR before. I think I'll stick with it. All I need is a filter.”

“during traildays I brought mine to the Katadyn guys. They gave me a new pouch and told me the new filters will work with the PUR filter.

btw: I am selling mine on ebay.

“PUR actually discontinued the Explorer model about a year or so before they sold their outdoor division to us at Katadyn. We had no rights to the design or any access to replacement parts or filters for that model.

Unfortunately, we do not have a filter cartridge that will fit your PUR Explorer.

Jimmy san may have a point..! Wounded Knee looks like I'll be in the market for a Aqua Mira after all..! Ha..ha
