“So I'm walking to the office this morning and a guy driving buy shouts to me..."Hey, can you tell me how to get to 85?" (Interstate that is) "Clean living!" I say back.” 2:21:49 PM 2/28/07 “obviously a made up joke - no guys ever ask directions - right girls?” 2:25:15 PM 2/28/07 “I'd be surprised if he didn't flip you off for that one.” 2:25:22 PM 2/28/07 “Naw, I gave him directions too. last edited: 2/28/07 2:26:09 PM” 2:25:59 PM 2/28/07 “Good one, HP! Sometimes the teller will say "One thirty eight" or "two twelve" or "three sixty one". Then I'll reply "Three sixty one? Take 36 here to Covington, then turn left on 81. Follow 81 about 15 miles to 361. Can't miss it."” 2:29:13 PM 2/28/07 “I can't walk to work; it's about 9 miles from home. But we'll soon be moving our office and once we do, I will be able to walk from my office to many of my appointments. I love this town.” 2:51:51 PM 2/28/07 “At my local grocery store the checkout lady (funny term in itself), often asked if I wanted the milk in a bag. One day I told her this well rehearsed story of another place and time when I replied in the affirmative and the clerk opened the milk bottle and poured it all in the bag. The story is contrived, but the look on the clerks face wasn't” 2:52:09 PM 2/28/07 “I do drive to work but the closest I can park (relatively cheaply) is about 5 blocks away. I enjoy the walk.” 2:53:35 PM 2/28/07 “I just went and checked, I park exactly 15 steps from my desk.” 2:59:46 PM 2/28/07 “23 steps. Oh, and a 4 mile drive.” 3:03:45 PM 2/28/07 “dang, mines 6 miles, but even in the morning traffic it takes me less than 15 minutes from house to desk.” 3:16:03 PM 2/28/07 “Ha ha !! It takes me about fifteen minutes to walk the mile to work. Dang, now I've got to walk home. Let's go, feets!” 3:21:00 PM 2/28/07 “I guess I could bike the 7 miles to work...except for the fact that I don't want to die. Biking in downtown Newark, NJ...not recommended. I'll get hit or shot.” 3:23:41 PM 2/28/07 “Nice, do you walk every day? Rain or shine?” 3:25:39 PM 2/28/07 “Once in a while I'll get a ride to or from but in ten years I've NOT had a parking permit. I have a big umbrella. I am The All-Weather Kid. One time I wore snow shoes to work.” 3:31:00 PM 2/28/07 “I saw 2 cars on the drive to work this morning, that's it.” 3:32:52 PM 2/28/07 “45 minute drive to work...” 3:36:02 PM 2/28/07 “I ran two cars off the road” 3:36:30 PM 2/28/07 “LOL! Hyway, you are hilarious today.” 3:37:22 PM 2/28/07 “Marko: "One day I wore snowshoes to work". Probably in July.” 4:03:08 PM 2/28/07 “Out of the kitchen, turn left. Six steps and take another left down the stairs. Walk toward the back and the office is on the right. When I'm not at a client site, that is. Takes maybe 10 seconds.” 4:37:18 PM 2/28/07 “Lyra walks down to the convenience store and gets her a 40 of A.M. Ale in fuzzy slippers and then its back to the home office.” 5:19:16 PM 2/28/07 “Ditto what Ski said (except forget the turn left and go down the stairs part).” 5:30:00 PM 2/28/07 “Friday I'm back at work. I look forward to the half mile or so walk through the woods to work, good way to start the day.” 5:33:06 PM 2/28/07 “It's about 8 steps from my car to my desk at work. But, I'm a phone-pacer so I get my miles in whenever I take or make a phone call, lol. I don't mind the drive to work. There's never a "rush hour" and I get to drive along Lake Superior for two miles every time I come to the office. Can't complain about that.” 8:14:37 AM 3/01/07 “MarkO, don't give away my secrets!! And you guys thought I only seemed drunk in the mornings.” 8:17:09 AM 3/01/07 “Gotchya, Lyra! Tarabull, do yoo live in The Soo?” 9:04:27 AM 3/01/07 “I thought TT was about working to walk.” 12:31:23 PM 3/01/07 “No no, TT is all about working to get free internet access and time to post on TT” 12:41:25 PM 3/01/07 “I make G walk to work, and I get the car. I'm ~ 15 miles to work, G is about a 1/4 mile. Prolly gonna suck for him to walk home in the rain tonight. Oh well.” 1:54:58 PM 3/01/07 “I used to have a job where I lived less than a 1/4 mile away and walked every day. On the day home, in season, I passed this big rose bush and would pick one (with the owners permission) and take it home to the wife (now ex-wife)” 2:18:47 PM 3/01/07 “Quarter mile in the rain?? I have a BIG umbrella.....golf-size(?)....and the umbrella usually keeps it from raining. If I forget it, here come the rain!” 2:31:25 PM 3/01/07 “tara - thought you were teaching school?” 2:47:22 PM 3/01/07 “Walk to what?” 2:59:16 PM 3/01/07 “MarkO - No, I live about 2.5 hours west of The Soo, in Marquette. dayhiker - I am a recently certified teacher but there are no teaching jobs currently available. I got a job for an organization that provides care for children and adults with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. The organization rec'vd a contract in Marquette for both the adult and children programs and they hired me to start and run the children's program. In addition to my job as "the boss", I also get to work with some of the children. It's a very rewarding job.” 10:35:54 AM 3/05/07 “Tara, you certainly are up there. I gassed up in The Soo once.” 10:59:59 AM 3/05/07 “MarkO - I gave props to you on your snowshoe trek to work on the "you know you are a backpacker when" thread.” 1:17:41 PM 3/05/07 “glad to hear it.” 1:19:14 PM 3/05/07
