Thanks for the tips. If I fly into Norfolk I'd be driving and flying out of Roanoke. Yep, 5 hrs from one another.

I'm about to head to the grocery store and getting home before it gets here.

Are you making this trip?

I've been out of town all week. I may have to go to Poughkeepsie instead of Ithaca. I'll know in a few hours.

I'm not dayhiker, but I might be interested in hiking that again. Maybe even 'Mr. Shoes' (DeoreDX) might be.

Could be. There is some good stuff up there. It's point to point unless you're around Cheaha, then you can get some loops. I lack Neels to Dick's Creek on the AT in GA and wondered about doing that in the spring. A TT Pinhoti trip might be nice though.

Dude has been at Trail Days the last few years spreading good will.

It was the first time I've ever seen a foot of snow before. The weather was great. Pretty day, about 32deg, and plowed roads. I wish I'd had more time on the ground. My flight out of Atlanta was delayed so I only had about 2 hrs on the ground. It was a long day, got up at 3:30am and got home at 9:00 pm.

I should have one more visit later in the winter. That one will be a single overnight as a minimum.

ya you got lucky with the weather? come back sometime before march and you'll see more than a foot!

drive less than an hour north east of cuse and you hit the tughill plateau which gets craploads of snow. last year we set the record for snow accum in 1 weeks time - 12 feet in some places!

If the next trip is a single overnight I'll likely have to hangout with the client. If it's 2 nights then maybe I'll get to finally meet up. We're cutting roof columns out of a building so I'll need to go back before they actually torch them out.

I had to bail on the trip.

I'm still trying to decide about that bag too. I'd love to get to do the Linville trip in Jan which would probably be a good chance to try it out.

Takin a first timer on Sat to the Big Tree. We were supposed to go Friday and I was taking my son to Cheaha for an overnighter on Sat. The weather messed that up. I'm likely taking most of Friday off to goof off at home and then dayhike on Sat. That said, I haven't tried to figure out the big exploration date. I should know my office retreat date in a few days which will let me figure out a big Sipsey trip date and then backwards to our possible exploration dates. As I've tried to figure out how to schedule everything I've started to get concerned that I might not be able to pull off the late Feb/early March Sipsey trip at all.

I left off the Cub Scouts polar bear campout and I'm keeping the kids one Sat soon so my wife can shop by herself or with friends.....dang, I've got to get all this stuff on a calendar.

Hey dayhiker.
Do you know anything about Autodesk's Revit program? In particular I'm trying to figure out how much a license costs. Autodesk lists the software as $5,995. Is that per license or is there a reduced price for multiple licenses?

Yes, but that's the old nomenclature. I still use that alot because when I use the new method I get a call from Bubba or Jorge asking what in the hell is a 362S162-43

http://www.clarkwestern.com/documents/CW_StructuralSteelCatalog.pdf

The first number you listed is the depth, the second is the flange width.

There should be load tables. If you're doing exterior studs at 90 mph you probably want to check the 20 psf tables. If you're clad with brick be sure to pick out a stud that meets L/600 deflection.
