Need information about the Beartooth/Abs arokasView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
Trip plans “We are planning a trip west and are looking into the Beartooth/Absaroka area in Wyoming and Montana. Specifically the Martin Lake/Elain Lake/Granite Lake loop. Any information on the area in regards to fishing and solitude would be greatly appreciated.” 12:00:36 PM 3/02/07 4:04:47 PM 3/02/07 “I was just talking about the Beartooth Mountains with a friend just yesterday. He had been out there in the 70's and described to me the Beartooth Pass and the Bear's Tooth. The highest point in Montana (Granite Peak, 12.8K ft) is in the Beartooths. Sounds like a beautiful place! I've never been in that area of the country (yet). I'm coming with ya squirrelbait, when we goin'?!?” 4:41:07 PM 3/02/07 “3,399 posts - all you need to know: http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/11975,-1.php Also, my pics from my own hike about a month after the TTers' one: Pre-hike (there's a pic of the bear's tooth in there somewhere): http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/48839564gSyMOC Days 1-2: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/48841256xgBNrH Days 3-4 and Post-hike: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/48874690qZzZnj last edited: 3/02/07 4:57:10 PM” 4:52:30 PM 3/02/07 “The Beartooths are my backyard up here in Yellowstone. They still have snow and frozen lakes up there a month or two after everywhere else thaws out. It's beautiful, rugged, has the highest mountains in Montana, and many of the trails are virtually empty most of the year! I love this place! Also, the trout fishing in many of the high streams in the beartooths is excellent! I have some photos from this past summer in the beartooths in my June and July galleries on my site. Check em out. http://www.livedon.com/site/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=8” 12:59:45 AM 3/03/07 “Ill post some photos on here when I get the chance.” 1:00:48 AM 3/03/07 “The fishing is good along the beaten path trail. We caught lots of trout a year back or so. http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread/39437,-1.php” 12:24:05 PM 3/03/07
