I guess that light and cheap are relative terms ... How about $100 - $150 for a good Summer bag?

I have a zero deg bag, but it is big and heavy. This purchase would be for summers ... maybe a 30 to 40 deg bag instead??

Campmor has a lot of good bags in that price/temp range. The general rule is to buy 5-10 degrees warmer than you need. I like down best. It's light and warm.

TNF cats meow 20 deg bag 169
MN Phantom 32 deg bag 240 but possible to catch it on sale somewhere for 190-200.

Those are the two bags I own.

you can get SlumberJack for pretty cheap. My husband swears by the summer bags.

Really? I've always found their bags to be overly heavy and not the highest quality. I have the 45 degree over bag but other bags may be better.

Nigal, I agree with you. BUT my husband likes them. Then again....he likes a 50lb pack....

TNF Cats Meow. Under 3lbs and consistent awards winner from Backpacker Magazine. Never heard anything but praise for it.

Big Agnes Zirkel. $200 and built well to last. 20° and right on for temp rating.

I like my REI Polar Pod 20 degree synthetic. Especially considering I got it on clearance for $30. I think retail was 90 or so.

Of these three Down Barrel Bags the:
-10/+20 is 1.5kg/3.3#
ZERO/+32 is 1.3kg/2.86#
+5/+40 is 1.0kg/2.2#

They are reasonably priced......cheap.
