Funny thing is, I was printing the maps at REI and there was a line of people for cashiers behind me, one of the guys standing there with his wife asked me what I was doing, so I told him. He further said something about trained, 1800 miles, good to go etc. Took me everything I had to keep my composure. I said, "Well, that's really sweet, but I don't think my husband would be as cool with it"

Wow. I am still laughing, my daughter thought it was a hoot too. I do feel special though, wanted and all. Doesn't take much, does it? LOL! Steve would totally freak out if I so much as entertained the idea. Once I was going to give one of my myspace friends a ride to a PCT trailhead for a PCT trek of his own. While my husband would never put his foot down, he very much made his feelings known, so I gave him a break. He is afraid I am going to be murdered by an axe murderer some day.”

My main partner is my buddy's wife.

Everyone in our little circle of skiers, climbers and backpackers goes out with who ever is available...and thats often someones girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife.

How does everyone else buddy up? Do you only have one or two folks you hike with on a regular basis?”

“My usual buddy is BowlderSon, but I'll drag myself out to the occasional TT hike, too....”

Pamela - Well, No grocery store stories to tell. But my cool wife has let me bring at least three TT ladies home from the trail to stay at our house on their way home.”

“Hey Phil, Your wife knows you slept in my tent, right?”

“pam, I often hike with other men, my husband understands I need to backpack and he would rather I not go solo as he really isnt into backpacking anymore. You should of said yes. If you have a marriage of trust, neither you or your husband should worry. I have made some wonderful friends this way. Just because you hike with someone, doesnt mean your sleepng with them :)

“What clique? LOL. My schedule is so screwy & subject to change I almost have to solo, seems like everytime I plan a trip w others I end up having to change it to leave early, stay later, etc., don't want to make their trip a mess so it's easier to solo, although I do like hiking w others!”

Pamela, a guy that had been talking to my wife at the gym got really defensive when I came over. I told him, "Look there's no reason I should trust you, but every reason I do trust her. So, no problem."”

“my husband has no problems trusting me, not even an issue. he's just not up for trusting some guy we don't even know. i can understand that. i'm cool with it.

i almost had a trip planned with 2 guys from our Boy Scout troop, but the plans fell through due to some timing problems. he never said a word about that. like i said, it's about not knowing the guy.
