Most of the places that I mentioned are downtown-midtownish.

I guess it depends on whether food is a consideration.

Old Sac has the Hogshead Bewing Co in a basement. Kinda interesting.
The Round Table Pizza in Old Sac is also a cool basement. I think they might have Sierra Nevada and stuff like that on tap.

Old Sac is easy for out-of-towners to find and might be a draw.

“Actually, she's known in the beer clique as "PepperGod", not "PepperDog"! :)

It was a funny occurance at one of our meetings, but I won't say who had a few beers too many and came up with that new name for her! :)

Hey, Spirit Coyote, how are ya?

Sobgbyrd - I missed you all as well. Especially since the weather turned out so well for you. Hopefully I will be back for the next one.

Phil- I grew up in the San Bernardino/Highland areas. Probably not a best 'first impression' part of California. But I do love the San Gorgonio mtns. Spent a lot of time up there camping with my family. Back when camping was for the poor.

sandyann - OMG. My parents lived in Highland from 1972-2001. They lived 200 ft. from Baseline near the 30 fwy. Did you ever spend much time at the Dairy Queen on Baseline?

sandyann and Phil; you guys ever spend much time up at Big Bear lake. Spent many a summer there in the late 60's early 70's. Remember a dance spot called the Sugar Shack?

Phil - Yes I am VERY familiar with that Dairy Queen. We lived off Baseline and Victoria. My aunt family still live right down the street from Patton in the older homes. We moved out of the area in 1975.

Landscaperjb - Big Bear Lake was a favorite camping area. Along with a camp ground we called 'Jinx Lake'. Don't know the real name. We also used to camp over in the Lytle Creek area before it turned into a concert venue.

sandyann - Cool. My parents owned that Dairy Queen from 1970-1981. They sold it to the Korean family that has owned it since. If you remember the owner, Harry, he is my father.

You are referring to Jenks Lake. It is off of Highway 38 on the back way to Big Bear, near Barton Flats. I actually got a very good pic of it a few years ago.

Wow Phil....my parents probably changed the name a little bit just for kicks. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Whenever we went, we ordered the sundae, one scoop with chocolate syrup, whip cream and cherry. My dad always got two scoops with butterscotch. Oh the memories.

I work as a volunteer ranger in the San Gorgonio Wilderness and spend 4-6 weekends each summer on trail patrol.

The Bowlder Family Clique went to Dodge Ridge. One member quit the clique and snowboarded, while the remaining two skied in to the pack station, found a nice overlook for lunch, and then finished the day having a frosty beverage on the deck watching the snowboarding one. We could see Mt. Diablo from our lunch spot!

Bowlderman: Do you have to be born into the Bowlder Family Clique?

Phil: There wasn't much snow out there yesterday and what was there was soft and easy to deal with (the crampons and axes were just extra training weight on our backs). Here are pics:

I guess you could marry into our clique, although, since BowlderGal and I are already married (to each other - what a coincidence!), BowlderSon is your only chance. I can give you his email if you want to start working on it....

I've met Bowlderman on the trail also. He was with two other people, so it was probably a clique!

wingding - nice pics. I checked on the SGWA site and saw them there. After my daughter's wedding on April 14 I want to get on the mountain again.

We've been doing lots of great hikes in Southern California and the Sierra.

There's a couple of us bachelors that had to do the Yolla Bolly/Middle Eel Wilderness over the weekend. Didn't see a sole for two days. Got back to the TH, two other vehicles there. Like I was telling Andy, the trails aren't marked too good. I think he is a beliver now and that older guys can still outlast younger guys.

You need to go along on a winter trip when some of the folks from down there come to Yosemite. Seems though that you don't like the cold too good wingding. Do you see Cori any?
