My daughter and son in law live in San Francisco. They both just graduated from college there.

Actually, Toe, it'd be better if everything from Lone Pine on down dropped off or melded into Mexico :)

CA has got some of the best mountain trails I've done anywhere, including through the Cascades and the Andes. I can go to the most remote coast or the most remote mountains in about five hours, or beautful mountains or coast in two. I have world-class ski slopes in the winter, wicked mountain biking just up the road, a bounty of fresh Dungeness crab available at the market and killer road rides out my front door that look like riding through the wine country in France.

CA has issues, no doubt, but the outdoors here are awesome.

Nothing personal about 'Frisco (heh heh), I'm just not nearly Californian enough yet to ebrace the place. I find it contrary to the American values with which I was raised and don't understand why anybody would live there. Maybe they could move it to France or someplace and take their beloved illegal aliens with them. I also have issues with Oregon but don't want it to fall off into the ocean. Oregon needs to be conquered militarily by the United States.

i'm driving up to Boy Scout Camp Whitsett tomorrow. http://www.whitsett.org/ProgramStuff/program.htm it's about six hours north of me here in San Diego up in Kern County. BrianSean and I are going to be there until Sunday or Monday visiting my daughter ErinAnne and my son in law Kenyon. any of you Californians wanna meet me there? we could do a hike or fishing, or meet for dinner/drinks.

That's why I stay up here in the mountains. We need to get the state of Jefferson rolling again.

Hi dizzybtch. Howdy Steve! Just back from WY. Cooling off already, nice.

With all it's faults (literal and figurative), California is a very beautiful and diverse state. Just look:

For that matter, all the states west of the Great Plains are beautiful and diverse.

Great web page wingding. I haven't seen your pictures in a while - you are still one of my heros. I especially liked the Mt. Hood pictures. There was still a ton of snow a couple of weeks ago when I climbed it.

Yeah, moving to California is probably the best thing I ever did. I couldn't say that if I lived in San Francisco or L.A., but where I am is sweet. And I'm pretty sure I'll never live anywhere east of Denver - not without a fight.

Yes, avoid the big cities and the rest of the west is everywhere the best.
