I have heard this line before so many times. Sure kids adjust. So does the quadraplegic or amputee. We are adaptive creatures, its a survival instinct. Adaptability vs what is best are entirely different IMO.

As an adult whose married I know I would stay with Sass no matter what till my daughter was grown. Of course my perspective is way skewed. I sympathize with the kid far more than the adult. The child is the hapless victim. They didnt ask to made. The adults are the adults and are responsible. Outside of abuse I simply dont see divorce as an option. again, my opinion only.


edit: I must add that the 3rd happiest day of my life was when my stepmom told me she and my dad were divorcing. Of course its always bad form to marry your kids baby sitter.

“There are lots of different types of abuse. Not just the physical. And it is so easy for someone in a good marriage to say they "would never" or "could never" but here again...you never know until you are faced with the decision. I think it is much easier for a man to stay in an unhappy situation than it is for a woman. Men, typically, are not as emotional and do not need the emotional bonds that a woman, typically, does. But i also think we need to make our own happiness. we cannot depend on someone else to make us happy. If you can do that within your less than satisfactory marriage, than all the better. Sometimes though, it just isnt possible. It takes 2 people to make a marriage work and if 1 thinks they are doing everything right and wont see the problems and agree to work on them, then it wont work no matter how much you want it to. IMO..”
