Statistics questions

“In the general population of the United States what percentage of 1.) males and 2.) females backpack at least 1 overnight or more a year? Does anyone have any published sources for this question? Note for backpack I guess I also need to say hiking at least a mile to the campsite would be the lower limit.

dang - looks like more people backpack than I thought I was expecting numbers around 2 % of total population - of course there are regional variations - Western regions have approx 10% of the people backpacking so in the East it is less than 6% but still ...”
