“Oddly, I think Scooter Libby is probably a nicer guy than Joe Wilson, and definitely a nicer guy for the people he was trying to protect (probably Cheney and Rove).

I have a lot of mixed thoughts and feelings about the case, but I hope he doesn't go to jail.

Definitely Cheney and company used leaks and nasty tactics to drown out people who pointed out that the emperor had no clothes (aka the murderous dictator posed no imminent threat) and it has been useful to see that exposed.
On the other hand, seeing reporters who promised silence to their sourcees testifying displeases me. To see the kind of nasty con game that has become endemic to Washington criminalized might be OK - but not if Libby goes to jail.

I hope Libby doesn't go to jail. I imaging Bush will let Libby appeal and fight the conviction, but that sometime between the 2008 national elections and the 2009 Presidential inaguaration, Libby gets a pardon. I imagine Libby is hoping that he can stay free on appeal for another 20 months.”
