It's been such a long time.....
Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday in his home in southern New Hampshire. He was 55. Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play.

The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday.

The name sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

He could really belt it out ---

I wonder why you never hear of anyone dying a "timely" death?

Most likely will go down in history as one of the creators of fluffy-sounding girlie-rock. (A friend of mine used to play their cassete tapes constantly. Ugh!)

What if Ahnold became a music critic?

Guess you had to be in High School when Boston hit it big to be a fan. My friends and I were headbanging, pot smoking, pill dropping, hoodlums and we all were into Boston. They toured with Black Sabbath so that has to count for something.

I am not gonna say rest in peace, not for rockers, so I will say "Turn it Up and Rock the House, Brad Delp"

When was that?

1976 was when the album came out.

Boston was my most favorite band of all. I have fond memories of listening to them with Heather while she and I would go camp deep in the woods when we were in high school. Yes, we'd lug a big boom box with us so we wouldn't be without our music while camping. We lay in our tent and listen to More Than A Feeling before we hitch hiked into town to wreak a little havoc in the middle of the night.

It got into them in the mid-80's, loved all their old and new stuff at the time. Yes, I was in high school, LOL. Someone in the early 80's had painted a huge reproduction of one of their album covers on a wall in the tech room at school (stage lighting control room). Thing was 10 feet high by 20 feet wide. Beautiful rendition... and a nice pot leaf on the side to boot. Grin. I heard that it was ordered painted over by a new pricipal after I left, I was sad to hear that. Oh yeah, I won one of their albums from a local radio station, too. Fell in love with "feeling" on a train ride to Florida. Lots of good memories around that band.

I still have an original concert t-shirt from the late 80's that I've never worn. I guess it's time to put it on, turn up the music and raise a drink in his honor.
I saw then in concert 3 times. He will be missed.

Day is night in New York City
Smoke,like water runs inside
Steel idle trees to pity
Every living thing that's died

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

Heard on the news that he had committed suicide by lighting two charcoal grills in a closed room, what an odd way to do it.
