Taking a poll “Lizs, do you remember this post to Tarabull's thread about photography help? “Hey pennsy -- and anyone else -- we should set up a photography hike. Where you got a destination with lots of great shots of different types... and everyone shoots and helps each other. And maybe get together to compare shots the last night or something (in that instance digital would be needed, or access to 1-hour film processing) Hobbit and I talked about doing this long ago... and it never happened. You know, kind of the broke man's version of a classy photo seminar/tour. LOL!" lizs 7:39:32 PM 9/05/03 I was just curious to know if anyone might have an interest in doing something like this. I know we kicked it around for quite awhile, and even located a lab that does slides daily in Moab. Personally, I think most people have switched to digital by now, me included, but I still use the F5 from time to time. Anyway, I was always disappointed we never did make it happen and was wondering if anyone was interested in resurrecting the idea. If so, any ideas for drop dead gorgeous locations? Moab is one, but I'm sure this country is littered with them. last edited: 3/10/07 8:38:10 AM” 8:36:51 AM 3/10/07 “We had one at the Sipsey Wilderness in Alabama in Nov 04 and had alot of fun.” 8:45:56 AM 3/10/07 “I have a better idea: let's buy a bunch of disposable cameras and pass them around the country to other TTers! Then, when the cameras are full, the last TTer to take a picture could get the film developed and post the pictures right here! Genius! It's bound to be a huge success! No one would ever drop the ball on a project like that. Hmm...now only if we could come up with a name for an idea like that. Anyone? Anyone?” 9:42:14 PM 3/10/07 “LMFAO!!! Good one, NC! Hobbit, I dunno. This year I'll have one big trip, which is likely up in the air until May. Hopefully, I'll be on a mapping crew for the CDT project that Backpacker mag is doing. (I mean, how can they NOT choose me??!?!? phhht!!! LOL!) I don't know that it would work this year. But see if anyone else chirps in. It would be great to get back to Utah!!” 9:46:30 PM 3/10/07 “Hobbit, I'm kind of jumping into this conversation not really knowing the background etc. No idea where you guys discussed going. However, I would be willing to perhaps alter some of my summer plans to do this. I'm always looking for ways to improve my photographic skillz. This sounds like it could be a lot of fun.” 8:10:28 AM 3/11/07 “Nonconformist just made me spray Diet Pepsi through my nose. Now I gotta clean my monitor. We never really discussed a destination other than Moab, and that was only tentative. I'm not set on any one place, and would be open to any and all suggestions, as long as they are selected based upon their photographic possibilities. Planes trains and automobiles have made this a rather small country. All we really need are enough participants to make it interesting and a beautiful place to hone our skills. Just for information's sake, I'm located in Northern Utah. My state lays claim to five national parks; Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Capitol Reef National Park, as well as seven National Monuments, two National Recreation Areas, a National Historic Site and six National Forests, all located within a days drive of Salt Lake International Airport. I'm open to any suggestions about anywhere however.... Southern Utah gets pretty hot in the summer, and a cooler destination might be a better idea. For instance I've always wanted to see Smokey Mtn. National Park. 9:10:04 AM 3/11/07
